Là na Gàidhlig

Bha sinn trang an-diugh ann an Sgoil Dhalabroig a’ comharrachadh Là na Gàidhlig agus Seachdain Leabhraichean ann an iomadach doigh, a’ crìochnachadh le ceilidh!

In between rehearsals, 2 of our lovely P7 pupils went over to the Sgoil-Àraich to read them stories, to celebrate Book Week Scotland. They also sang songs with them to help the Sgoil-Àraich pupils prepare for their visit to Sacred Heart House next month.
To bring our day of celebration to an end, we held a ceilidh for the whole community to celebrate both Book Week Scotland and Là na Gàidhlig. Everyone in the school performed at the ceilidh and we are very proud of them! We would like to thank everyone who attended the ceilidh – mums and dads, aunties and uncles, grannies and grandads and our special guests from Sacred Heart House.
At the end of our ceilidh the P1-3 pupils were given their Bookbug Bags to take home. They were very please with their bags and we hope you have fun reading them before bed!

Bookbug Visit

The Bookbug came to visit the school earlier this week.  He visited all the classes and the Sgoil-Araich to tell them that they would be receiving Book Bags this month, during Book Week Scotland.

Primary 1 pupils will get a family bag to take home and Primary 2 and 3 will get a ‘Read, Write and Count’ bag.

We are very excited for Book Week Scotland and can’t wait to hand the bags out to our pupils!

Outdoor Classroom

Sgoil Dhalabroig was celebrating Outdoor Classroom Day today!

Room 2 were busy creating an obstacle course, which they then completed, in the courtyard, followed by a human knot to warm things up.

They then went around the school grounds on a Shape Hunt.  They have been busy learning about 2D and 3D shapes and went on a mission to see if they could spot any shapes within their school environment!

Lots of fun was had by all!!

Healthy Eating Topic

Healthy Eating Topic

As part of our whole school healthy eating topic the catering manager for Uist and Barra, Màiri Boyle, visited the pupils. She shared information about her job,, and the tasks that she carries out. The pupils learned a great deal about the rules and recommendations that the school menu must adhere to, and it was a good chance to reflect on how lucky we are that such tasty, healthy homecooked meals are provided every day in our school.
