Another very successful opening evening last night. We are delighted that parents took the opportunity to meet with staff, find out about our priorities for the 2018-19 session and discover new ways to support learning at home. We hope this was of benefit and you enjoyed the different activity stalls.
Today we learning about what a debate is. We went on to work in two teams, where we prepared a debate of our own and presented it to the opposite team. The topic for our debate was Maths Week and the subject:
“Bu choir dhuinn barrachd uine a chuir seachd a’ deanamh obair Matamataig.”
We are very proud of our gold medalist, James! Sin thu fhèin James!
Daily Mile with a twist last week!
A lengthy walk around Kilpheder last week – but we managed it! We even had time to stop off at the play park on the way past, where we bumped into the cyclists on their way back.
Tòrr spòrs aig Mod Bharraigh!
A good day had by all at the Barra Mod on Saturday! Everyone performed and behaved amazingly and should be extremely proud of themselves.

We were busy last week doing a taste test on some fruits and vegetables. As our topic is all about healthy eating we wanted to find out which ones we like and which ones we don’t.
This week is Sgoil Dhalabroig’s Maths Week. We will be using the information we gathered to create different graphs and tables to show the information attractively.
Healthy Eating Topic
As part of our whole school healthy eating topic the catering manager for Uist and Barra, Màiri Boyle, visited the pupils. She shared information about her job,, and the tasks that she carries out. The pupils learned a great deal about the rules and recommendations that the school menu must adhere to, and it was a good chance to reflect on how lucky we are that such tasty, healthy homecooked meals are provided every day in our school.
