Therefore\u00a0<strong>S1<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>S2<\/strong>\u00a0pupils study a range of local, national and global contexts in accordance with A Curriculum for Excellence and The Broad General Education Guidelines. In\u00a0<strong>S1<\/strong>\u00a0pupils study themes such as \u201dWhy did people move to Scotland and what impact did they have on Scottish Culture?\u201d In\u00a0<strong>S2<\/strong>\u00a0themes studied include \u201cIndentify \u00a0possible causes of a conflict and report on its impact on people\u2019s lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<h4>Courses Offered in the Department<\/h4>\n<p>For those pupils who choose to continue to study History beyond\u00a0<strong>S2<\/strong>, we follow the Broad General Education as delineated. In\u00a0<strong>S3<\/strong>\u00a0themes studied include \u201cThe social, political and economic impact of \u00a0technological change.\u201d Again pupils study \u00a0a range of \u00a0local, national and global contexts in accordance with A Curriculum for Excellence and The BGE. S4 Pupils following the new National 3, 4 and 5 qualifications. Pupils study three units covering Scottish, British, European and World History in the Eighteenth, Nineteenth and Twentieth centuries. We also offer courses for\u00a0<strong>S5<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>S6<\/strong>\u00a0pupils at National 4, National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher. Pupils study a variety of topics from the British, Scottish and World contexts.<\/p>\n<h4>Higher Education and Careers<\/h4>\n<p>Apart from providing a life-long interest, History is a subject which develops skills that are particularly relevant to careers such as Law, Journalism, Local Government and Social Work as well as Archaeology, Museum and Archive work.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Introduction to the Department We are aware that for some pupils, their last formal experience of History as a school subject will be in\u00a0S2.
