They design, create, test and improve all sorts of products and processes. From James Watt\u2019s steam engine to Andy Scott\u2019s Kelpies, Scotland is great at engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the start of your engineering career, you can expect to earn around \u00a330,000 per year. As you gain experience, your salary can rise to \u00a370,000*. There are currently 9000 engineers working in Scotland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a great time to start your engineering career as there&#8217;s a huge demand for new talent. UK companies are actively looking to employ people with engineering skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s an industry offering careers in range of sectors including space, aviation, transport, medicine, technology and fashion. It&#8217;s possible that you could be working in a laboratory, at sea, underground or a recording studio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want to build a career in engineering, this Foundation Apprenticeship is for you. It&#8217;s a unique opportunity to gain real workplace knowledge and experience. This is the same level of learning as an SQA Higher, which is SCQF Level 6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your qualification includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Level 6<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>a National Certificate (NC) in an Engineering Discipline at SCQF Level 6, such as: Engineering Systems, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>core units of an SVQ in Performing Engineering Operations at SCQF Level 5<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>work placement experience or an industry challenge<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What will I learn?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The topics you learn as part of your National Certificate will depend on the area of engineering you choose to study. These include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Engineering Systems<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mechanical Engineering<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Aeronautical Engineering<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Electrical Engineering<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fabrication and Welding Engineering<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Manufacturing Engineering<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Measurement and Control Engineering<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To achieve your SVQ units, you\u2019ll be assessed as part of your work placement.
