With this Foundation Apprenticeship, you\u2019ll be ready for roles that are in demand now and in the future. They could include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>software developer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>web developer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>database administrator<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>network manager<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>As a software or web developer, you could create programs, robotic systems, apps and websites. That&#8217;s the same level of learning as an SQA Higher, which is SCQF Level 6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your qualification includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Level 6<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>a National Progression Award (NPA) in Software Development at SCQF Level 6<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>core units of a Diploma for IT &amp; Telecommunications Professionals at SCQF Level 6<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a work placement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What will I learn?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For your National Progression Award, your topics will be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Computing Applications: Development<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Computing: Authoring a Website<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Software Design and Development<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In S6, you\u2019ll work in a hands-on way as part of your work placement, towards achieving the 5 units of your Diploma. You&#8217;ll do:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Data Modelling<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Investigating and Defining Customer Requirements for IT and Telecoms Systems<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Health and Safety in IT and Telecom<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Personal Effectiveness<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>And one of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Event Driven Computer Programming<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Procedural Programming<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Object Oriented Computer Programming<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Your Foundation Apprenticeship will also help you to develop meta-skills. Employers value these skills, which include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>communication<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>problem-solving<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>working with others<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>time management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You&#8217;ll need these transferable skills for working in a range of other related jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where could it take me?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Your Foundation Apprenticeship gives you lots of options, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Modern Apprenticeship:&nbsp;<\/strong>When you complete your Foundation Apprenticeship, you\u2019ll have achieved core units of the Modern Apprenticeship in IT and Telecoms. That gives you a great head start.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Graduate Apprenticeship:&nbsp;<\/strong>You&#8217;ll have the skills and experience for a Graduate Apprenticeship in IT: Software Development.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>further education:&nbsp;<\/strong>Continue your studies at college, with an HNC or HND in an ICT and digital subject. Your workplace experience will support your college application.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>university:&nbsp;<\/strong>All Scottish universities recognise Foundation Apprenticeships as equal to SQA Highers.
