As part of Heritage Careers Week, the S2 Gaelic Learners class enjoyed a site visit to Uist Wool. Pupils were taken on a tour of the mill and wool centre, learning about the various processing stages of the yarn and wool products. Pupils got to see all the machinery in action, some of which dated back to the 19th century! Inspired by the rich history of the industry, pupils learned about how Uist Wool embraces traditional working methods to create their products, honouring local heritage. With their strong commitment to the local community, pupils also learned about how the mill works collaboratively with local crofters to buy their wool. Pupils had the opportunity to ask questions about the various job roles available within the organisation, which sparked a strong interest in the possibility of work placements!<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
