Learners will respond to stimuli, including text, generate ideas and use a range of drama skills to portray characters. Learners will explore the social and cultural influences on drama and a variety of forms, styles and genres of drama. They will learn how to analyse and evaluate their use of drama skills and that of others.<\/p>\n<p>Learners who complete this Unit will be able to:<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Use a range of drama skills<br \/>\n2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Contribute to the drama process<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Production Skills<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The general aim of this Unit is to provide learners with knowledge and understanding of a range of production skills. They will use these skills to enhance drama when presenting. Learners will work with others to develop and use performance concepts as an actor or in a production role. They will learn how to evaluate their progress and that of other learners.<\/p>\n<p>Learners who complete this Unit will be able to:<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Analyse a range of production skills in drama<br \/>\n2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Apply a range of production skills in drama<\/p>\n<p>Production skills taught during this unit of work are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Set Design<\/li>\n<li>Lighting<\/li>\n<li>Sound<\/li>\n<li>Props<\/li>\n<li>Costume<\/li>\n<li>Hair and Make up<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>Performance<\/em><\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the performance unit is to enable learners to draw on, extend and apply the skills, knowledge and understanding they have learned during the Course. The performance will assess the learner\u2019s preparation and performance of a textual extract. The learner may be assessed in either an acting or a production role.<\/p>\n<p><strong>HOW WILL IT BE ASSESSED?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Internal assessment<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In both National 4 &amp; 5, each unit will be assessed internally by the class teacher. Pupils can provide evidence of their learning through a variety of responses including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Folios<\/li>\n<li>Evaluations<\/li>\n<li>Performances<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>National 5 external assessment<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For pupils following the National 5 course, their final assessment will be externally assessed in 2 methods:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Written Paper<\/li>\n<li>Application of skills in a externally assessed performance<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; COURSE The course is divided into three units of work.
