The senior drama club are presenting the play version of “Blood Brothers” in late November.  The cast list will be revealed Tuesday 13th September.  There will be a rehearsal schedule on the noticeboard Thursday 15th September.

Today pupils from the Higher and Advanced Higher drama classes had a post-show discussion from Mathew Lenton, the Artistic Director of Vanishing Point Theatre Company about his play ‘Tomorrow’.  This was a very interesting and beneficial opportunity for the students which will certainly aid them in the  performance analysis element of the final exam.  S5 pupil Iona Ramsay was so inspired by Matthew’s visit that she is considering a career in direction!  Thanks again Matthew!

This year Williamwood High School is delighted to be bring to the stage the smash-hit Broadway musical Hairspray.  The show runs from 2nd to 4th December at 7.30pm in the Ena Millar Theatre.  Tickets are available from the Performing Arts Base at a of cost £6 adult and £4 concession.

Criteria for Drama

On Tuesday 18th August, former Williamwood pupil Joe Gardner competed in the ‘Class Clowns’ stand-up comedy competition at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The competition, for ages 12-18, was staged at the Gilded Balloon which is Edinburgh’s top comedy venue. Joe successfully made it to the final where he faced 4 other teenagers from all across Scotland. The competition was judged by venue founder Karen Koren and comedians Kevin Day and Jo Brand!   After some deliberation, Joe was announced as the winner, making him the first ever Class Clowns winner in Edinburgh and the ‘funniest teenager in Scotland’. Joe was supported by many of his peers and staff on the night. His professional and slick style of delivering relatable, honest material was commended by the judges. The comedy baton was gladly passed from one Jo(e) to another!

The Nat 5, Higher and Adv Higher papers are all on Tues 28 April at 9.00am.
