Pupil achievement

Congratulations to Finlay in S3 who successfully auditioned for a role in the Spillers Pantomimes production of Peter Pan.  He beat hundreds of other boys to be cast in the role of John Darling.  The play will be performed in Eastwood Park Theatre from 26th November to 30th December.  Well Done Finlay!!

Medical Role Plays

Last week the Advanced Higher and Higher Drama pupils supported our S6 pupils who are looking to study Medicine and Dentistry at University.  They conducted a series of medically themed role plays to simulate the courses’ application processes.   This year’s cohort of applicants were all female and we wish them every success in the future!

Behind the Curtain

Last week in S3 Drama the pupils took part in the “Behind the Curtain” project, a series of workshops presented by 3 theatre production professionals.  Workshops included information about pathways into working in the Creative Industries, training options, work ethic and how to operate as a freelance practitioner.

The sessions focussed on Costume , Lighting and Hair and Make-up Design; they were fun, interactive and informative with a great deal of valuable career tips.

Drama club performance

At the end of October the Junior Drama Club gave a performance for family and friends entitled ‘Mr Woods and the Historical Monsters’.  This was an interdisciplinary project with drama and history.  The pupils looked at the original ideas behind vampires, witches and Frankenstein and what we perceive this characters to be within the modern day world.  They used these characters as their stimuli to devise their own short play around.  Thank you very much to everyone involved, the evening was a wonderful success.
