The children in the Purple, Blue, Green and Red groups have settled well back into nursery. We have been taking advantage of the lovely weather with lots of exciting outdoor learning experiences such as pouring/ filling in water tray, painting, planting, reading and developing our gross motor skills on the bikes.

Health and Well-being with green and blue
For health and well-being week we have been discussing and learning all about our differences and similarities.
We have been reading “Elmer the Elephant“ which conveys the important message of being proud of who you are despite your differences. The children used the character puppets to act out the story as Mrs Branco read to them.
With a choice of a variety of different materials the children were able to create their own transient art elephants.
Some of the children also decorated an elephant picture to take home. Lots of glueing, sticking and colouring to help develop our fine motor skills.
Following on from Elmer the children listened to the story “All Kinds of People” , helping us to visualise the differences there are in people. They then used mirrors to assist in their self portraits, this opened up a dialogue between the children about hair colour, eye colour, height and skin tone etc.
We were able to express to our friends the things we liked about their pictures and the differences between us. Each picture was beautiful and unique just the same as us!
Firework Fun with Green and Blue
This week the Green and Blue group have been very excited about Guy Fawkes night which has inspired the children to make a range of beautiful art work.
We dipped string in to paint and moved it across the paper to create a firework effect.
The children were developing their fine motor skills while using the PVA glue to create firework patterns. The colourful glitter made the pictures shine bright just like the fireworks we saw on November 5th!
Look at our finished display!
We used food colouring to make a variety of vibrant water beads. We really enjoyed the sensory aspect of this activity as well as pouring and filling them in the water tray.
Maths
Our focus in maths has been pattern. The Green and Blues created repeating patterns using the paint and stampers.
We were also taking turns at maths games on the board to finish the sequence.
Autumn Fun With Green and Blue
Autumn
This week the Green and Blue groups have been learning all about the changes in season and weather. We have investigated autumn through songs, artwork, books and games.
We made an autumn tree and leaf print pictures to decorate our story corner.
Blue and Green group used their maths knowledge to match the leaves to the numbers on the chalkboard.
We love singing our autumn song!
French
Over the past week we have had lots or opportunities to practice our french with Mrs Branco and Pierre. We are starting to count and say hello/goodbye in french. Have a listen to us practising our song.
Super maths with green and blue
Over the past few weeks the children in the Green and Blue group have enjoyed learning all about shape and numbers. Have a look at all the fun experiences we took part in while developing our early numeracy skills.
The children sorted and identified shapes whilst taking part in “tap tap” and transient art activities, they then used these shapes to make objects.
They have also used a variety of media to make shapes, including paint printing and mark making in shaving foam.
Blue and Green group took part in number activities and displayed confidence when counting out and matching corresponding numbers with picture cards.
Library visits
Some of the children have been visiting Busby Library this week. They were so excited to learn about all the different activities going on in our local community library.
Peter the librarian read us some lovely books and told us how to join the library.
We voted for our favourite book and ‘Wolfie the Bunny’ won. “I loved the bit when Dot said she would eat the bear from the toes up, it’s a bit scary but funny”.
Space
We were listening to the story “Little Moon” about a moon that was lost in space.
After reading the story we drew pictures of our own planets and helped little moon to travel around the solar system to find his home, Earth.
We love singing along to the planets song and learning lots of cool facts!

The children worked together to create the surface of the moon. Lots of gluing, cutting and sticking to develop our fine motor skills.
We also made some rockets and astronauts for our tuff tray.
Our finished product! We enjoyed using our moon for role play and story telling.
