Dr Seuss

The children have been learning about Dr Seuss and the books that he has written. (The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, The Lorax, There’s a Wocket in my Pocket, Horton Hears a Who, Fox in Socks and lots of others.) We have been incorporating Dr Seuss throughout the Nursery.
The children have been enjoying painting ‘Green Eggs and Ham’ and making Eco pictures of ‘Truffula Trees.’
The children have also drawn some lovely pictures of ‘The Lorax’ too.dr seuss

The children have enjoyed a snack of purple carrots and radishes, with some lovely guacamole dip to go along with it. (From reading ‘Green Eggs and Ham’) The have also made some delicious ‘Cat in the Hat’ gingerbread biscuits.

Home: Why not try out some crazy snacks at home, that even The Cat in the Hat would like…

Left, Left, Left, Right, Left…

The children have been learning about directions and have been using this new skibee botll both indoors and outdoors. In the field the children have been using wood with arrows on them pointing in different directions, which the children have enjoyed.
Indoors, we have been using the Bee Bots on a special mat, the children have been directing their Bee Bot to various places such as flowers and their hive.
Home: Why not try giving directions to get to the children to get to their bedroom or kitchen (we have been using forward, backwards, left and right, e.g. 2 steps forward, steps left etc.)

Hanen Home Bags

Mrs Small has been making Hanen Home Bags and they will be given out to a few children on a Tuesday each week and to be returned on a Thursday.
One bag will be swapped around each group. The bags will contain a book, contents page, props to support the story and a sheet with the Hanen strategy e.g. SPARKLE WORDS, CSPAR, POP.
Hanen promotes responsive interaction strategies that are known to promote social, language and emergent literacy development.
