Introduction

Administration & IT helps students to develop essential IT skills. Pupils will become proficient in using MS Office Packages such as; Word, Excel, Database, PowerPoint and E-mail.  These are valuable skills which will be transferable to other school subject, world of work and further education.

Curriculum

Broad General Education

In S1 and S2 you will study BIT as a rotation consisting of Administration and Computing which will allow you to develop skills relating to Microsoft packages such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access.

You will be given opportunities to be creative and tailor your learning to your own interests. Through studying Administration you will also be developing your literacy, numeracy, digital and problem solving skills.

Senior Phase

In your senior phase you will have chosen to specialise in Administration and IT and will continue to develop an understanding of the use Microsoft packages such as Excel, word and Access, including the use of programs such as Outlook and PowerPoint. You will also cover theory topics relating to Administration.

As part of their final SQA assessment pupils will complete a practical assignment using Microsoft packages and also a written theory question paper.

S4 Administration and IT

This course is practical with a 70 mark assignment and 40 mark exam. Pupils will mostly be using the computers to practice their IT and problem solving skills, with theory elements built into the course.

Higher Administration

This course consists of a practical assignment worth 70 marks and an end written exam based on theory which is worth 50 marks.
