This week our writing focus was an imaginative recount. We wrote about our first day on the Titanic.  We described what we could see, hear and how we felt.  We can’t wait to finish these next week and hopefully share them with you.

During social studies, we looked at pictures of upper and lower class passengers. We made suitcases for their trip on the Titanic.  We had to think carefully about the items that they would have brought with them.

Yesterday we took part in a Fairtrade competition.  We had to design a shopping bag.  We researched different Fairtrade items that we could buy in the supermarket. Fingers crossed one of us will be the lucky winner!

We have been math superstars this week! One thing we have enjoyed doing was adding and subtracting 10 using our 100 square. We are very quick at completing these calculations now!

Please continuing commenting on our work, we love replying to you!

We had a very busy 3 days back at school! On Wednesday we attended a service for Ash Wednesday and received ashes on our foreheads. We made Lenten promises and we are saying an extra prayer each morning throughout Lent. Image result for ash wednesday

We also celebrated St Valentine. We listened to Valentine’s story and then made cards for the people we love.

On Thursday we sketched the Titanic. Firstly we looked at the different 2D and 3D shapes we could see.  Then we made a rough sketch.  Finally we used graphite sticks to complete our sketches and to add in some shading.

We have had a very busy two weeks at school!

Last week we celebrated St Cadoc’s day by listening to the story of St Cadoc, going to Mass and making mice to go on our RERC wall. We were also given a little white mouse to eat!

To celebrate Robert Burns, we had a Burn’s supper in class. We tried some vegetarian haggis and tatties.  We also tried some delicious shortbread… yum yum!

To raise money for wet play resources we had a crazy hair day. Some of us had a spider in our hair, a lizard, a football, an ice cream sundae and a donut!

This week in ICT, we used the paint programme to make our own Titanic ships. We used the line, shape and colour tools to make these masterpieces!

We have also been learning more about the Titanic. During play, some of us built the Titanic using the mega blocks.

We learned about a survivor on the Titanic named ‘The Unsinkable Molly Brown’. She was a 2nd class passenger and she took charge of lifeboat 6.  She kept everyone rowing for over 7 hours and gave up her fur coats to keep people warm.

We wonder what next week will bring!
