Primary 2 have enjoyed their recent trips to the forest. We were very lucky to have our parents and grandparents with us to help. Over the last two weeks we have completed lots of exciting activities in the forest.
We have been investigating all the different types of living things that can be found in our local area. Last week, we found white flowers, moss, twigs, leaves of all different shapes and objects of all different colours. Unfortunately, we also found some waste that doesn’t belong in the forest. When we found rubbish, we decided to pick it up and put it in the bin to keep our forest clean, beautiful and safe for animals. We know that we must look after the animals in their natural habitat and not hurt them.
This week, we went on a bug hunt. We were looking in all different areas of the forest for spiders, worms, ladybirds and any other creatures we could find. We developed our Maths skills by counting the living things and recording the results in tally marks.
Each week, we have found different paths across the river. We have created some rules which help us to cross the river safely and responsibly:
- We must wait for a teacher before we cross the river.
- We must make sure that we are appropriately dressed for walking through the water.
- We must step into the river one person at a time.
- We should stick to the shallow sections of the river.
- We can use the rocks in the river as stepping stones to help us cross.
- Look after the safety of people in the river
- We must enter the river at a safe place as instructed by an adult
- We must not drink the water from the river
- We must never run along the edge of the river
- We must follow the route through the river
- We must follow instructions at all times
- Last but definitely not least, we must make sure that we HAVE FUN!
