Week 3

This week we continued our study of states of matter, moving into looking at how solids, liquids and gases change into one another. We mainly looked at water, H2O, and how it can change from ice, to water, to water vapour.

As a class we discussed what it means to be a good friend and how important it is to have friends in our lives and how we can be supportive of each other. This lesson was reinforced through our RE lessons as we used our sequencing skills to correctly piece together the story of the Good Samaritan.

In basketball, during a sunny break in the weather, we continued practicing dribbling the ball with both hands while moving in both straight lines and in a zig-zag pattern, mimicking a real game.

For writing this week we used our first names to create an acrostic poem and produced some fantastic work, using strong and powerful adjectives to engage our readers.

Looking forward to next week and well deserved weekend.

Welcome to P5

In our second week of Primary 5, we learned lots of new things while also revising knowledge we already had.

We looked over how to tell the time on an analogue clock while also revising our multiplication facts.

In Science we learned that everything is made of matter and that matter can either be a solid, liquid or gas.  For Art we planned and designed cool soda cans featuring our own branded drinks.

During PE we looked at how to dribble with both hands,  focusing on control and to look up while we dribble. On Thursday we celebrated the Passion of St. John the Baptist.

We are all looking forward to our third week, getting back into the routine of school and learning more about the world.

Welcome to P4d’s World

Welcome to P4D’S class blog. Our blog will share all of our learning and keep you up-to-date with our class news.

Our focus right now is on our First Holy Communion. We have been practising our hymns, prayers and our seating plan. We’re all very excited about the big day on 18th May. We’ve been working and updating our sacramental booklets every week. Three days after we celebrate our Communion we are going to Schoenstatt- a retreat where we can pray and take part in activities.

Two weeks ago we started our new novel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Its a story about a poor boy called Charlie. He loved chocolate! He only gets it once a year for his birthday- he only takes a nibble each day so it lasts a  couple of months. He also lived near the chocolate factory so he always smells the delicious melting chocolate.  One day Mr Wonka decided to have a competition. He would invite 5 lucky winners to tour his factory!

To be continued…….
