This week has been World of Work Week and we’ve been VERY lucky! We had lots of visitors come and speak to us about their fantastic jobs!

First on Monday we had Gary Lee Muir who spoke to us about his amazing football career. There’s lots of us in our class that want to be professional footballers or athletes so this was very interesting.

Then we had Mrs McCabe who work at the Avenue. She told us lots of interesting information about working there. Some of us even got to use the walkie talkies that they use at the Avenue! Mrs McCabe also left us our new class mascot, Newton!

Lastly we had Dr Seenan who spoke to us about working in a GP Practice. Her days a very busy!

On Tuesday we were extremely excited because we had Katie J from Capital Radio come in and speak to us about working on a radio station. There’s lots of us that want to follow in her footsteps!

On Wednesday we again had a really busy day with visitors.  First we had Jennifer and Cat come and speak to us from Silverburn. We found out that Silverburn has a bee-hive on its roof! How cool?!

Then we had Mrs Singha speak to us about being a Business Analyst! We all pretended to be business analysts and worked in teams to come up with the best modifications for a new games console. We had a lot of fun!

Lastly we had Mrs McGregor who is a Construction Consultant come and speak to us. Again we worked in groups but this time we had to use newspaper and straws to build a very sturdy bridge! We all worked together brilliantly and created lots of cool bridges! Mrs McGregor thought we had done so well that we all got a Krispy Kreme donut! Yummy!

We learned a lot this week about real jobs and the skills we need to work on to be successful in our chosen careers. Thank you so much to all our speakers!
