Welcome back to p5c’s blog. This week it is read aloud week so we had a really nice time reading quietly for 20 minutes in class each day and on Monday we read to the nursery children. It was very hard to get the nursery children to concentrate, Mrs Mooney spoke to us about using our voices to keep them engaged and focused! We’re going to work really hard on this in class. Miss Harvey also read part of the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe to us this week and demonstrated using her voice in an exciting way.
On Thursday we did writing and it was about description, we looked at how we can help our reader visualise the story. Miss Harvey has enjoyed reading all our stories with extra description in them and can’t wait to see it continue in our other stories!
On Thursday and Friday we all did drama scenes on the ten commandments (one pupil slipped on a book by accident – but she was okay and laughed it off)! We based our short scenes on 10 rules we made up for our classroom that would help us be happy because we know that if we follow the Ten Commandments we will lead a happy life.
We continued working on our Scream art pieces and some of us have now finished. Miss Harvey is going to put them on the wall for everyone who visits our classroom to see!
There were a lot of special days this week! First up we had Shrove Tuesday (also known as Pancake Tuesday!) and we got to make pancakes with Mrs Cameron. On Wednesday it was Ash Wednesday and we had to walk up to St Cadoc’s Church for mass – we filled the whole church up and some children had to sit on the floor! to mark the start of Lent we had a woman in from SCIAF to chat to us about all the great work they do! Our school will be fundraising for SCIAF during Lent and some of us are doing a stall to help out!
On Thursday and Friday we were all dressed extra nice because it was our individual and family photos this week! Miss Harvey is now confident she has a class full of models we posed so well!
