Open to all S5 Scottish school pupils, the programme will see 100 participants spend five days on the University campus where they will take part in practical activities and challenges offered by University of Strathclyde staff and engineers which will provide them with an insight into studying and working in the field of engineering.<\/p>\n<p>Our partners from the Scottish Space School Foundation will also visit throughout the week, giving pupils a chance to hear from NASA astronauts and engineers through a series of lectures and small group discussions.<\/p>\n<p>Pupils are invited to apply if they are interested in attending using our online application form which will be available here when applications open.<\/p>\n<p>The programme is fully funded by the Faculty of Engineering and all student costs, including a contribution towards travel (up to a maximum of \u00a3300), will be covered. Teachers are not required to accompany pupils. For the pupils\u2019 convenience, we will arrange for Mentors to accompany pupils from and to the main transport hubs in Glasgow at the start and end of each day.<\/p>\n<p>The programme will run from 9.00am \u2013 4.30pm on Monday \u2013 Thursday and 9am \u2013 1.00pm on Friday. Pupils who wish to attend should ensure they are available to attend the University throughout the entire duration of the programme.<\/p>\n<p>We are also delighted to be offering our annual Evening with NASA event on Wednesday evening and Space School pupils will be given priority tickets for the event which will also be open to the public. Further details will be published soon.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Application Process<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Pupils must currently be in S5 at a Scottish secondary school and be studying Maths and Science subjects at Higher level to be eligible to apply.<\/li>\n<li>Applications should be submitted using our online application form only (the \u2018Apply Now\u2019 button to the right of this page will appear active when applications open at the date listed above).<\/li>\n<li>When completing the application, pupils will be asked to provide details (including an e-mail address) of their teacher. Pupils must obtain permission from teachers before including their name and contact details on the application form.<\/li>\n<li>When an application is submitted, the nominated teacher will receive an e-mail request to provide a supporting statement on the pupil\u2019s application by logging into our online system. Teacher statements can be submitted at any time after the application is submitted and final deadline for submission is listed above. Please note: that we are unable to consider applications if a supporting statement from the teacher is not provided.<\/li>\n<li>Once an application has been submitted no changes can be made \u2013 pupils are asked to ensure they are completely happy with the information entered on the application before submitting. If more than one application is submitted by an individual pupil, only the first submission will be considered and any duplicates will be automatically deleted.<\/li>\n<li>A selection panel, made up of staff from the Faculty of Engineering at the University will meet to consider applications and make decisions. Pupils will be informed by e-mail on or before the date listed above.
