What a great day we had in Edinburgh collecting an award for our waste awareness campaign from Zero Waste Scotland. Our sustainability groups worked together to create and carry out the campaign.
The RRSA planned from the UNCRC Articles.
The Guardians of the Garden visited Left Field Market Garden who supply food to our lunch hall.
The Eco Committee presented at assemblies to ensure that all pupils understood our campaign and considered what they could do about food waste.
Our Digital Leaders produced, filmed and edited the film of our food journey from farm to plate.
We received our award from Zero Waste Scotland and Education Scotland Food for Thought Campaign.
Our lunch was produced by social enterprise The Real Junk Food Project who intercept surplus food potentially on its way to landfill and create delicious meals. We had a lovely meal from ‘rescued’ cherry tomatoes, sandwiches with smoked salmon, camembert cheese and pickle and lovely cakes. We drank apple juice which was just beyond its ‘best before’ date.
It has inspired us to keep campaigning to protect the environment for our future.
