Week 19 learning!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #333333;font-size: 1rem\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3145\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/public\/slhsmclassof2026\/uploads\/sites\/17978\/2024\/01\/11233407\/IMG_3535-169x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/public\/slhsmclassof2026\/uploads\/sites\/17978\/2024\/01\/11233407\/IMG_3535-169x300.jpeg 169w, https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/public\/slhsmclassof2026\/uploads\/sites\/17978\/2024\/01\/11233407\/IMG_3535-576x1024.jpeg 576w, https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/public\/slhsmclassof2026\/uploads\/sites\/17978\/2024\/01\/11233407\/IMG_3535.jpeg 709w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 169px) 100vw, 169px\" \/><br \/>\nHappy New Year from everyone in P5b!!<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>We have had a very busy first week back!<br \/>\nWe have been revising maths concepts this week and sharing the different strategies we each used to work out the answer to the questions given.<\/p>\n<p>We enjoyed our independent learning time during maths this week some of us worked as a team try to beat the clock during \u2018Hit the Button\u2019 and some tried to create symmetrical patterns with blocks\/Lego. \u00a0Some children challenged themselves with trying tricky levels on \u2018The Daily 10\u2019 \u00a0and we enjoyed sorting out the fraction pieces and exploring what different sized fractions looked like and comparing them to each other!<br \/>\nMrs Sutherland noticed lots of excellent mathematical thinking and conversations happening!!<\/p>\n<p>In music, we were listening to a lovely Scottish song and were able to identify the instruments we heard in the piece -penny whistle, bagpipes and guitar. \u00a0We then sang along with the track and Mrs Carey played the guitar.<\/p>\n<p>Our writing focus this term is recount writing. \u00a0We started off our block by identifying the key components of example recount texts and looking at the language used to sequence the main events!!<br \/>\nAsk us at home to tell you the purpose of recount writing and the four key features of a recount writing.<br \/>\nWe are excited to retell events and experiences.<\/p>\n<p>In PE, we are continuing our block of ceilidh dancing lessons in preparation for our Stage Ceilidh! \u00a0We worked with p5a and learned a new dance.<br \/>\nWe \u00a0started a new topic of striking and fielding! \u00a0We had fun playing a game of Cone Collecting where we had to demonstrate our teamwork skills and had the chance to practise thinking about playing a game using tactics!<\/p>\n<p>For our new class topic we will be learning about culture and diversity.<\/p>\n<p>It has been busy first week!!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Happy New Year from everyone in P5b!!
