Primary 7a 2024 – 2025

Well done to the fabulous Freya who continues to shine brightly in our classroom every single day! She gives 100% to every task and never appears to experience drops in energy or enthusiasm. It’s not easy to be so positive and curious all the time. You’re so impressive Freya and a vital leader in your key roles like the Reading Committee.

We have our cluster schools ceilidh at St. Luke’s next Thursday. We’ve been working on the dances taught to us by the St. Luke’s Sports Leaders. Take a look at the  video below.

A massive well done to Alex and Julia who were the winners of our Book Week Kahoot quiz! You really paid close attention took to our class novel. 😊

Over the last week we have enjoyed making predictions about the second book in The Last Wild Trilogy, as well as finishing off our roadmaps for the key developments within the book. The book has been such a rich source of discussion points!

We have finished our Term 1 class novel The Last Wild and have been sharing our opinions about the story and its themes. Today we undertook a Diamond 9 activity to prioritise the key messages within the book. Great discussion skills everyone!

Nathan has achieved a sensational start to P7, showcasing communication skills that are blowing every teacher he meets away. His ability to engage with and encourage others in the classroom are second to none and he is a pivotal reason why our class is such a positive place. Keep up the incredible effort Nathan as there are so many exciting challenges ahead for you in P7!

One month ago we undertook a multiplication speed test to see how many questions we could answer correctly in 7 minutes. Rapid multiplication knowledge is the key to being able to tackle many more complex mental calculations as we move forward. Therefore, we set personal targets and aimed to implement practise at home and in small blocks in class to bring about changes in knowledge and confidence. I’m happy to report that the majority of the class answered many more questions within the 7 minutes. In addition, many more children managed to finish the ENTIRE 144 questions within 7 minutes. Some after 4 minutes! Keep up the hard work, boys and girls! If you’re keen to improve your score even further, please let me know and I can give you another sheet in class. 🙂 Have a look at just a small portion of our results below.

Please take a moment or two to look at the P7a and P7b website dedicated to Black and Asian British people who have achieved amazing things. We took time this month to recognise that representation, inclusion and diversity are all vital in our community. We are developing our skills in using Google Sites and will continue to explore its possibilities and features.

These are the results of the radishes after a few days. The organic fertiliser seemed to defy our theory that the chemical fertiliser was meant to grow the plant faster but turned out that’s wrong (so far!)
