Numeracy and Maths

We have been learning about measure. We have been using non-standard units of measure to measure the length of ourself and classroom objects. We realised the need for standard units of measure and have began using centimeters and meters to measure.

Try measuring objects at home too!

Homework week beginning 28th May: Talking and Listening

Additionally, this week for homework we are asking  you to share your achievements. Have a look at the information below and have a chat with someone at home about your successes and achievements.

St Mark’s Primary School

Talking and Listening Homework – Term 3

Topic: Personal Successes and Achievements

Our learners are successful and confident. They exercise responsibility and contribute to the life of the school and wider community as global citizens. Our pupils demonstrate a range of skills and abilities through a wide range of activities.

At school we are committed to recognising a broad range of achievements and do this in many different ways. To help us we ask that you discuss your children’s recent achievements (this school year) with them and inform us of any we may not already be aware of.

The following questions might be helpful during your discussion:

What makes you special and unique?

Which clubs to you go to at school? What skills do you use there?

Which clubs/activities do you do outside of school? What do you do there? Have you achieved any levels/badges/rewards/certificates?

What have you got better at recently?

How do you feel when you achieve success?

Which recent achievement are you most proud of?

Please come to school prepared to share with the class;

  • Any School/ Cluster Extra Curricular Club/ Activities.
  • Any Out-of-school Extra Curricular Club/ Activities
  • Achievement/ Awards
  • Something you are most proud of.

Outdoor Learning

Lots of boys and girls in Primary 1a have had the opportunity to take their learning outdoors this week.

The boys and girls have been giving the outdoor learning area a spring clean!

The boys and girls have also been doing lots of planting! We learned about what a plant needs to grow. Fingers crossed for some sun light to help our plants grow!

The boys and girls even had the opportunity to use real tools in construction and build this amazing shop!

As the weather begins to get a little nicer we are going to be taking our learning outdoors often so please remember your wellieboots everyday!
