Some of P2a were learning to find half of a number during this week. We were able to collect a number of cubes and then show half of it by making sure we had the same amount of cubes on each side of the paper plate. We already knew that when you half something that each side must be exactly the same. Here are a few pictures showing how we found one half of a number!

Over the past few weeks we have been learning about ‘The Past’. This week for homework as it is a short week the boys and girls have been asked to find out about the history of their family. All pupils should then create a simple family tree to show their findings. All pupils have been given a blank sheet of paper to complete their family tree. Pupils do not need to use this paper, they can be as creative as they wish and create their own format using paper or digital technologies. This could simply be a labelled picture of their family. Some examples can be found below:
There will be no numeracy homework to complete this week, however, pupils can still access sumdog or education city at home if they wish. This homework will be due in on Monday 28th October.
REMINDER:
All Science Centre consent forms need to be handed in by tomorrow.

For maths week, P2a made rice crispy cakes to practice our measuring skills.
We had to measure out:
1. 60g of rice crispies (roughly 1 big cup)
2. 100g of chocolate (24 squares of chocolate)
Primary 2 worked excellently in their groups and the outcome was absolutely delicious! Really well done P2a!

Primary 2a created beautiful butterfly symmetry using oil pastels! We had a great time doing this and were so excited to see if the oil pastel transferred onto the other side when we folded it over.
