Primary 7a 2024 – 2025

In P4a we try our best to help each other when we’re stuck and to learn new things.

We are learning about the cultural diversity in our class and what makes us who we are.  We created and gave some excellent presentations all about ourselves this week.

In Forest School, we have been learning how to build a fire.  We know that fire needs heat, oxygen and fuel.  We’ve also been trying to build different types of fire like the teepee.

One of our favourite times of the week is exploring and relaxing in the forest!

In Art, we created some amazing origami puppets!

We have been learning about materials dissolving in water.  We designed our own investigations to find out what changes whether materials dissolve or not.

We found out that:

– salt dissolves faster in hot water.

– stirring helps salt to dissolve.

– it’s easier to dissolve a little salt than it is to dissolve a lot of salt.

We were hunting for worms in the forest.  We stamped our feet on the ground to trick the worms into thinking it was raining. Worms are so important and help make good soil for plants to grow in.

We had a great first adventure into the forest this week!  We took a forest bath, taking in all the sights and sounds; and exploring the different activities in our forest classroom.  We can’t wait to get out again next week!

We had a great book-themed day yesterday!  Thanks to Chef Guy who managed to fit us in at the busy Book Taster Cafe.  We were able to try out different genres to see what we might like. We also designed some fantastic book covers, had a fun time out on the book scavenger hunt and designed some marvellous medicines and potions after hearing about George’s Marvellous Medicine.

On Shrove Tuesday we were learning about food miles.  We were investigating how far the ingredients of our toppings have travelled to get to us.
