Star of the week – Mirren!

Well done Mirren!

Mirren always works extremely hard and always takes care of the equipment in the classroom on her own initiative.

Her peers have also wrote some lovely things about her too.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

P.E. in the classroom

Due to rehearsals for the Nativity show this week, we were unable to  have P.E. in the gym hall.

We decided to have a go at Just Dance in our classroom and it was a success. Well done to everyone for joining in and putting in 100% effort, you have some fantastic dance moves.

Advent

During the month of Advent, we have been preparing for the birth of Jesus.  P7b led their own Advent Assembly  on Wednesday and demonstrated fantastic presentation skills – Well done!

As a class, we created our own Advent Wreath which will be displayed in St. John’s Church.

Everyone showed how they were inspired to be more like Jesus – Fantastic work!

SCIENCE

Last week we started our new topic in Science  (Solar Systems) and we had the privilege of Mrs Fitzsimmons joining us in our learning. As a class we discussed what we already knew about the Solar System and what we would like to learn. We used Chrome Books to research key information about the Solar System. The pupils particularly enjoyed learning about the Rocky Planets and Gas Giants and were able to decide their next steps in their learning – creating a fact file.

Well done to everyone for their hard work and effort!

Successes and Achievements

Another focus for homework this week is Successes and Achievements both at school and home.  We want all pupils to list recent achievements  from this school year.

In class, we will share our successes and achievements with each other to develop our listening and talking skills.

First Minister’s Reading Challenge

Pupils’ have been given a variety of activities to complete at home based around reading. This will be a continuous activity for the rest of the year.

We are encouraging pupils’ to engage in this reading homework as a family. Activity task sheets are located within the homework folders.

Happy reading 🙂

Pope Francis Faith Award

Over the last few weeks Primary 7 have been planning and preparing a walk in which they discovered the history of Catholic Education around Barrhead. They used the St. Luke’s app ‘Anniversary Urban Walk Barrhead’ which was created by Miss Mckay.

Pupils organised the walk for the families of St. Mark’s and even wrote to the Bishop. While the Bishop contacted Miss Mckay to apologise that he would be unable to make it, he was impressed by the enthusiasm of our pupils to share the history.

Pupils then planned a walk considering the route, distance and time constraints.  On the day of the walk pupils enthusiastically talked about each location and were a credit to the school.

Thank you to all the parents and pupils who attended.
