This year Primary 3 have decided that they want to make some yummy ‘Snowman Soup’ to raise money for the school at our Christmas Fair! The children are super excited to take part in this activity and can’t wait to sell them to their friends and family at the fair.
Miss McFlynn and Miss Queen are going to provide most of the materials needed for this activity, however, if possible we have asked the boys and girls to bring in one small bag of marshmallows each for the soup. Your support with this would be greatly appreciated but it is no problem at all if you cannot bring anything in.
Could all items be brought into school by Wednesday 28th November.
Thanks
The boys and girls of P3, Miss McFlynn & Miss Queen x
Well done boys!
Yesterday we visited the Barrhead Foundry. We had a great time working with the library staff to choose and stamp out our new library books. We all chose a book from the juniour section of the library to take back to school to read during our private reading time.
At the library we also recieved our ‘Read, Write, Count’ bags. When we got back to school we enjoyed using all of the new resources we recieved in our bags.
Some of us read our new books and some of us decided to use our new note books to write stories inspired by our visit. We read our stories out infront of the class.
Here are some of our achievements this term!
Each week the children will be given literacy and numeracy homework to complete. All homework is issued on a Monday and it should be returned to school completed on Friday. Children should remember to bring their reading books into school every day.
The literacy homework consists of spelling and reading which should be completed every night. Spelling tasks are highlighted in the front of their homework jotter. Their spelling words for each week can be found in their homework folder on the ‘Spelling List’ sheet. The children will also take home a new reading book each week which they should read at home each night.
Along with their reading book is a word wall sheet. Children should practice reading and spelling aloud the highlighted words.
Numeracy homework consists of a page from their ‘Zeta Maths’ homework booklet. Each week the primary 3a are assigned a new page to complete. The details of the page to complete is located in their homework folder on the ‘Primary 3 Mental Maths Overview’ sheet.
Hope this helps!

During maths week we participated in lots of different activities surrounding maths and numeracy.
We worked in pairs to create calculations which would give us a certain number. We worked hard against the clock to create as many calculations as we could in 3 minutes.
We also were very lucky to receive a visit from some 5th and 6th year pupils from St. Luke’s High School. They spoke to us about currency from around the world. The girls showed us some pictures of different currency and we managed guess where some of it was from.
Hello everyone and welcome to Primary 3a’s blog!
Primary 3a have got off to a fantastic start to the school year and have began learning about many different things.
This term our social studies topic is ‘The Romans’. So far we have been learning about the countries that the Romans invaded and today we used the chromebooks to find facts about Julius Caesar.
In science we have been learning about the human body. We have looked at the skeleton and can explain how the skeleton helps us. We have also been learning about the heart and we even tested our own heart rates using monitors.
Keep checking our blog this year to see what we have been learning!
