Scientists for the afternoon!

We investigated dirty water samples and analysed the quality of water. We used water grading strips to help score the quality of the appearance and analysed the odour. We know the dangers of drinking dirty water and realise that people in some countries do not have the luxury of access to clean water. Keep an eye out for the water filters we have started to design!

Loose Parts Play

To finish off our Fitness topic in PE, we used the loose parts to create a fitness circuit for another group to try out. We were very creative and included different movements we learned in PE, for example speed bounce, calf raises, jump squats and lunges.

Pupil teacher!

Well done to Jessie who created her very own PowerPoint about climate change and the ways in which we can help look after the environment. We were all so impressed with the effort you put into making this at home!

Science Enquiry

We have been learning the five different types of scientific enquiry. We looked at a range of experiments and worked as a group to decide which type of enquiry each experiment related to.

Science Investigation

We learned last week that water is a good solvent. We wanted to find out what substances water can dissolve, so we planned an investigation and worked together to carry out a fair test. We found out that sugar, salt and baking soda are soluble, and vegetable oil, talcum powder, coffee and flour are insoluble.

Mr Berry

Mr Berry, a maths teacher from St. Luke’s, has been working with us on a Monday morning for the past few weeks. We have learned a lot about fractions and different strategies to solve tricky problems! We look forward to working with him each week.

Decimal Fractions

Over the past few weeks we have been exploring decimal fractions in maths. Today we looked at the value of each digit and built decimal fractions with others. We are also still working on our times tables for quick recall!
