Some of our class mates shared words and phrases in another language for us this week. We loved learning some Mandarin, Russian and Polish. We were so impressed with their ability to speak another language! A special thanks to Mrs Dziobek for teaching us some Polish tongue twisters!
Heritage Workshop
Thank you to Rosie and Amanda for coming in to tell us some very interesting information about the history of Barrhead.
We looked at maps of the local area from hundreds of years ago and talked about the difference between then and now. We also explored the industrial revolution and the importance of the Printworks and Bleach works in the area.
We can’t wait to work with Rosie to make our own prints!
Place Value
We have been working with numbers up to and beyond 1 million and we used the Numeracy Blueprint Boards to round these large numbers. It was very tricky but we persevered and shared useful strategies that helped us!
A visit from Santa!
Carol Service 2021
We thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the Carol Service today. Well done to Daniel for doing one of the readings and to Heidi and Jessie for singing in the choir!
Christmas Assembly!
We are so proud of Sophia who played the saxophone during our Christmas assembly today. We loved hearing Jingle Bells and we can’t believe how much effort you have put into learning this, as we know the saxophone is not an easy instrument to play! Great job!
Pope Francis Faith Award
We have been learning about the gift of knowledge and have been completing tasks in class and at home, to help us know ourselves, God and the world around us. We know that knowledge is our map to know where our faith is leading us.
Le sport
We have been learning about outdoor and indoor sports in french. This week we used our knowledge of new vocabulary to translate and match sentences to describe reasons for liking or disliking a sport and shared our own opinions in french!
Voices in the Park
We worked on our reading and listening and talking skills through analysing the ‘Voices in the Park’ book. We explored the different perspectives of the characters, the meanings behind the illustrations and and the key message of ‘don’t judge a book by it’s cover’. There was a lot of fantastic discussion and we can’t wait to see the notes that were made transformed into a new chapter of the book!
Achievements
Well Done to Mia and Jessie for both competing in a fun run! We love to hear of your achievements!
