Engineering and Science in everyday life

We listened to a variety of individuals who use these STEM subjects in their jobs – architects, bridge builders and sculpture designers. It was interesting to hear the skills they think are required for their job.

Life Cycles Live

To kick start British Science Week, we took part in a live lesson all about the life cycles of animals on a farm. We met real-life Belted Galloway calves, saw how an ultrasound scanner is used on a pregnant ewe, and we couldn’t believe it when a ewe and a cow gave birth live on our call! Such an exciting thing to witness!

Guess who!

We used our knowledge of french descriptions to play ‘Guess Who’ to describe different characters and our own classmates. This was a lot of fun!

Time

We have been using our learner disposition of ‘creativity’ to make our own time games during maths. We are improving our knowledge of time durations and converting between 12 and 24 hour time!

Formative Assessment

We have been working hard on our self and peer assessment. We gave each other constructive feedback, focusing on strengths and next steps during our Daily Literacy Learning tasks.

Football Festival

We are so proud of our classmates who participated in the Super 5s Football Festival. You played so well, even in the pouring rain and we loved hearing all about it!

Quick reactions!

We have been learning about our nervous system and signals being sent to the brain to react to situations to keep us safe from danger. Yesterday we started to investigate if our dominant hand is faster or slower to react.

Cost Of The School Day

We have been exploring costs of the school day in P6a and we estimated how much uniform, stationary, travel and lunches etc. cost families. This was a very interesting discussion and we began to explore how we could reduce these costs.

Taste and smell

We investigated if you can taste foods without your sense of smell. We found out that our sense of taste is not as strong when you are not able to smell the food.
