Primary 4b have been learning about the position of the earth, sun and moon. The have been learning about rotation and why we have day and night.
Today they took their learning outdoors, created human sundials and recorded the position of the sun at various points of the day. They used this information and related it to the compass directions so that they could identify the direction that the sun appeared to travel. Ask them to explain their findings to you!
One problem that the children identified was the lack of bright sunlight, as this made the shadows difficult to see. They have asked to repeat the experiment on a sunny summer day to make shadows easier to see. We will therefor repeat this task in the Summer term!
