Mary’s Meals

A few months ago we wrote to Mr Magnus McFarlane- Barrow (the founder of Mary’s Meals) to ask if he could come and visit our school and tell us more about  Mary’s Meals.

We were fortunate enough today to have a visit from a Mary’s Meal Volunteer, John Duffy who told us about his travels around the world to help children have  a meal at school. He showed us lots of photos from his travels to help us understand what life is like for some children in Malawi and Haiti and how Mary’s Meals help them go I school and get a meal.

World Book Day!

We have had a wonderful few days celebrating world book day!

We enjoyed creating a human library with exciting reads from home and our class library.

We have taken part in a book quiz too!

Finally, we completed our celebrations with a visit from Maisie Chan, the author of  Danny Chang does not do maths and many other exciting novels! Today she taught us a lot about Chinese zodiac , we even had a go at creating our own magical creature and she read to us from her new book Tigar Warrior: Attack of the Dragon King.

Reading: Fact or Opinion

We have been learning about fact and opinion.

We listened to video a video clip and created a list together of all the facts and all the opinions in the clip.

We read different sentences on the board then ran to the fact or opinion sign.

“We had to read the sentences about Christmas then decide if they were facts or opinions and stick them in the right side”. Farah-Rose

We done an exit in 3 to get out at playtime! Reading a passage about Christmas we had to write down;

1. A  fact

2. An opinion

3. Our own opinion
