Aladdin

By Brooke

I really liked Aladdin I thought it was amazing. I think all the hard work and effort was worth it. I loved the dancing, singing and acting. Also, I thought it was great that they got other people involved even though they were not performing on stage. Unfortunately I didn’t get a part in the show but my poster got chosen to get put on the walls around the school. I did my poster with Mie Mie and Jodie. I felt more involved in the show when ours got chosen.

I think that to make it a bit better they could have put a bit more of the bits from the movie but it was amazing anyway. My favourite part was Lucy and Robbie’s duet I thought it was a really good dance. I also thought the costumes were really amazing.

Aladdin – My Experience!

By Amy

Not long ago, I auditioned for a part in the school show, Aladdin. I thought I wouldn’t get in, but Miss Watson came to our class and announced the people who got a part in the show. She said that I got to be a dancer! I was so happy!

We went along to rehearsals every Friday afternoon. It was a lot of fun. We also got called after school on a Thursday for extra rehearsals. I was in the dance ‘One Jump’. It was fun being backstage because everyone was really hyper and excited!

We did 4 shows in total. Two to the school and two to the parents. On Wednesday the 27th and Thursday the 28th we came along at 6 o’ clock at night to do the show. Some of the P3 classes were our dressing rooms and everyone was so excited! We had to have huge quiffs in our hair and loads of make up! We all looked so different!

It was so much fun performing the dance and the finale. Everyone had a great time and it was great to be part of the performance!

ALADDIN REVIEW

By Vicki

When the school show was about to begin I felt excited and nervous (even though I was behind the scenes most of the time) .Mrs Scott gave her speech about how everyone who participated in the show put all their time and effort into making this performance flabbergasting. A few minutes later, the action was kicking in! Actors, singers and came rushing onto the stage. I was stage crew so I didn’t get to see the show which was a pity. From time to time stage crew were called to carry props, shimmering chairs and silky tables onto the stage. We even got to carry on the beautiful cardboard carpet. Even though I didn’t get to see the show, I loved hearing the singing and I’m sure the dancing and acting were great!

Aladdin Show Review

By Mei Mei

Recently Netherlee Primary School has performed Disney’s Aladdin JR.

I really loved all the dances. I thought that it was smart to have dancers dancing and singers singing, instead of singers only singing.

Some things they could have done better was, they could have had the dancers have more dances each, because each group only had one dance. However, doing it this way meant more people got to perform. I also think that they also could have had more P6’s have more main parts.

My favourite part of the show was when at the end everyone sang the finally song, even the dancers. I liked how they all sang it together, but I think it might have been good if the groups had their own little part to sing.

Overall I thought that the Aladdin show was very well practised and the stage lighting props looked really fantastic.

Ticketing and Programmes

For the school show, some Primary 7 pupils have been working with Mrs Gourley to produce tickets and programme for Netherlee’s production of Disney’s Aladdin Jnr. They were concentrated on the task at hand to get everything ready for next week’s show.

Here is a sneak peak at the programme design!100_0969

The Actors!

Netherlee Primary School has been busy producing their own school show. Their school show is based on the Disney film Aladdin. Aladdin was a good choice because it has some good characters and songs and acting it out looks AMAZING. When we went to see the actors they were practising every second and looked incredible. They were taking Aladdin to a whole new and better level than the film and that is saying something.100_0967

We went to see them practice and we were fortunate to see them preforming the bread scene at the start of the how, and to be honest I could not see the difference between them and the film! You could tell that the actors had been practising a lot; the guards were ferocious, Aladdin was very fast and the people in the street were very dramatic. Overall the acting is amazing as well as the singing and dancing.100_0965

You should come to this amazing show on the 27th and the 28th of May 2015 but be quick because the tickets will be gone in a flash. It’s worth it and possibly be the best show you’ll see for a long time because the show is already on the road.

Set Design

Mr Duncan’s class are making back drops for the different scenes. They first drew them out before painting them. There are different groups doing different scenes, for example, the market, palace and Cave of Wonders. They are all collaborating to make the wonderful art. It was obvious that they had spent a lot of time on it and needed it for something important.

Other groups were looking up images of magic carpets to draw. They were working hard and had loads of different shades and colours. We interviewed some people creating the drawings to find out what they liked and disliked about their back drop. They told us that they enjoyed their painting (which happened to be the Cave of Wonders). We enjoyed going there because we liked looking at the fantastic paintings. We know that Aladdin is doing well and we hope to have more amazing experiences in the future.100_1508

How we are promoting our show!

Pupils from P6a and P6c were making posters for Netherlee Primary School’s Production of Disney’s Aladdin Jnr. They were looking at posters of other shows for inspiration. We took photos of the making of the posters. Some people were using computers for references to put on their posters. There were some Islamic patterns used because they look like the magic carpet. The people making the posters tried to make the design simple but still look good. The posters looked very nice with the Islamic patterns. Some people drew the main characters on their posters also some people drew the lamp and the genie and used some key colours to represent different objects like gold for the lamp and a yellowish brown for sand. Mr Bryce printed out Aladdin Jnr signs and people were tracing them to get the logo on their posters. They used coloured pens and pencils to brighten up their posters. They discussed different techniques and coulors for their posters. Everyone was working hard and having fun.

Have a look at some of our posters below!
