Please note the change of dates, as there was an error on the previous letter.<\/p>\n<p>School Children Flu Immunisation \u2013 Thursday 13<sup>th<\/sup> November<br \/>\nOur flu immunisation programme will take place in school on Thursday 13<sup>th<\/sup> November.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Children In Need: Friday 14<sup>th<\/sup> November<\/strong><br \/>\nWe are delighted to share details about our upcoming Children in Need Charity Event, taking place on Friday, 14th November. The week commencing 10<sup>th<\/sup> November will be filled with fun activities, and we are very excited for our activities and can\u2019t wait to see everyone join in the fun while helping to make a difference! More details about our plans can be found in the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/public\/sandnc\/uploads\/sites\/18531\/2025\/10\/31130958\/Children-in-Need.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">attached document<\/a>.\u00a0 Thank you for your continued support and generosity.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Winter Fayre \u2013 Thursday 20<sup>th<\/sup> November 6.30pm-8pm<\/strong><br \/>\nThe nights are drawing in and we are all busy getting ready for this year\u2019s Winter Fayre. Make sure you save the date, it\u2019s sure to be a wonderful night. More information can be found in the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/public\/sandnc\/uploads\/sites\/18531\/2025\/10\/31131025\/Winter-Fayre-November-2025.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">attached flyer<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Head Lice<br \/>\n<\/strong>It is always a good idea to periodically check your child\u2019s head for any little creepy crawlies. We have lots of useful information on this in our website so please click this <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/sandnc\/head-lice\/\">link<\/a> if it would be of help to you. Please be advised that a child can attend school as soon as treatment has commenced and does not require to remain off school.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Celebrating Children\u2019s Achievements<br \/>\n<\/strong>We always enjoy celebrating our children\u2019s achievements, both in and out of school however, this session, we are making some changes to this process after speaking to groups of children and getting feedback from them.<\/p>\n<p>Any out of school and any in-school achievements will now be displayed proudly on our lovely new House display boards. Please drop by to have a look any time you are in school, these are located in the link corridor leading off the atrium. These achievements can be big or small as we recognise that even what may appear as a small achievement to one person can be a huge success to another e.g. learning to ride a bike or gaining a badge at swimming.\u00a0In order to submit the information about your child\u2019s <strong>out of school achievements,<\/strong> please complete the Google Form using the link below.\u00a0 <strong>Please note <\/strong><strong>the link will feature each week in our Friday <\/strong>newsletter and you are welcome to send in achievements at any time.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/DMAmxTYHS8CCa2tu9\">Achievements Outside of School Google Form<\/a><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p>No photographs are required. We will display your child\u2019s name, details of their achievement and their house colour on the House Boards which we hope to fill with lots of wonderful achievements as we know so many of our children do fabulous things out with school.\u00a0 As always, we would be very grateful for any feedback from parents\/ carers in relation to this.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Coming Together for Our School \u2013 PTA Update<br \/>\n<\/strong><u>Tombola Collection &amp; Cosy Sweater Day: <\/u>This is a date for your diary! The Tombola Collection for this year&#8217;s Winter Fayre will take place on Monday, 17 November. In the morning, volunteers from the PTA will be at each of the gates to receive your donations. To mark the occasion, children can come to school wearing a cosy jumper. Please note, they should wear their normal school uniform.\u00a0On Monday, 17 November, if you want to help with the collections and \/ or sorting, then please send us an email at <a href=\"mailto:netherleepta@gmail.com\">netherleepta@gmail.com<\/a> or via our social media pages.<\/p>\n<p><u>Thank You &#8211; Disco 2025: <\/u>We are incredibly grateful for the generous support and enthusiasm that made our recent disco events such a wonderful success! Thanks to your contributions, just over \u00a32k were raised for the school.\u00a0Thank you to our parents and carers for your time, donations, and unwavering support. And, to all the children \u2013 your energy and joy lit up the room! You made the event truly unforgettable and worthwhile.<\/p>\n<p>To our volunteers, thank you for helping in every way possible. We would like to make a special mention of Fiona Dunlop for making herself available to lead on this event. All the hard work and time the organisers dedicated into bringing this event together is much appreciated.\u00a0Also, a special thank you to the team in the office and the team of janitors for your time and support in helping us with getting things done.\u00a0To everyone involved, the enthusiasm is infectious, and your support is fantastic. Together, we\u2019re making a real difference for our school \u2013 thank you.<\/p>\n<p><u>Thank you &#8211; P1 and New Children and Parent Mixer (Sponsored by the Class of 2025): <\/u>We were delighted to see and meet so many of our new parents and children at our mixer event that took place on Thursday, 2 October. What a fabulous time we had. We did scavenger hunts, made autumn wreaths, friendship bracelets and many more crafts whilst enjoying some delicious pakoras and sweet treats.<\/p>\n<p>These events are not possible without people willing their time and skills to help. A special thank you to every volunteer who were there, and especially our working group under the lead of Jennifer McGraw.\u00a0 We would also like to thank everyone who prepared and donated baked goods and savoury snacks.<\/p>\n<p>Then, we would like to thank our P7 Class of 2025. The money raised at one of their end of year events was donated to the school. The team offer support to parents that are looking for jobs, training, volunteering etc. We support them from beginning right through to 52 weeks after they are in a role.<\/p>\n<p>We offer training in various aspects, most recently this has been in Paediatric First Aid, Food Hygiene and Customer Service- these courses are only available to parents in East Renfrewshire that are registered with WER. Previously we have also had paid traineeships- this has been in Pupil Support Assistant, Early Years Worker, and Business Support Assistant roles. These were for 6 months and were open to parents who were able to be employed by ERC, paid Real Living Wage and can gain a qualification (depending on what role). Work East Ren support with roles that parents are keen to undertake such as the Catering Assistant, Pupil Support Assistant and Early Years Workers- which predominantly offer the school hour\/term time hours.<\/p>\n<p>There is also support for parents that are in work- there is a training grant available for those that are looking to upskill\/retrain.<\/p>\n<p>Along with Parental Employment Support- Work East Ren have a Financial Inclusion Officer. Tracey from the Money Advice and Rights Team will be at Cartmill FC on 5<sup>th<\/sup> Nov and can support parents with advice on returning or increasing their hours. A benefit check can be completed to ensure the parent\/carer is receiving all they should be, and they can also receive a better off calculation to enable them to see if they did undertake a role, how would this change their situation- financially. Tracey can also support parents with Adult Disability Payment and Child Disability Payment forms and answer any queries around these and many other benefits and supports. Tracey is delivering a workshop on Budgeting for Christmas- to attend this, you need to be registered with Work East Ren.<\/p>\n<p>Work East Ren work closely with the Family First team and directly refer to the team who offer support to parents with a child that is 11 and under. The Family First team can offer a range of supports for parents and children such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A child\u2019s emotional wellbeing<\/li>\n<li>Support parents with their child\/children\u2019s behaviour<\/li>\n<li>Building confidence<\/li>\n<li>And sign posting to relevant agencies that can offer additional support for their child\u2019s emotional and behavioural well-being.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If any of the above are of interest, or you just would like to have a chat Naomi, Lucy and Tracey will be at Cartmill on 5<sup>th<\/sup> Nov from 9am-1pm. Please drop in.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Community Event: Starting Solids Workshop<br \/>\n<\/strong>Early Years Scotland will be hosting a workshop on starting solids for parents and carers with babies at the age of 6 months. This is for anyone who is interested in Gaelic Medium Education at Thornliebank Primary. There will be an opportunity to ask questions, listen to a short presentation and meet other parents who currently have children going through GME. Further details are on the flyer attached.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Primary 1: Glasgow Times Primary One Order Form <\/strong><br \/>\nWe are pleased to let you know that the Primary One photo feature will appear in the Glasgow Times on Monday 3rd November. Attached, you will find information on how to order a copy. Please note that photos will not be available to purchase on the website until Monday. We hope you enjoy seeing our wonderful Primary One pupils featured in the newspaper!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Primary 1 &amp; Newbies: Social Media Consent Forms<br \/>\n<\/strong>As the school now uses <strong>Instagram<\/strong> (rather than X\/Twitter) to share news and celebrate learning, we are updating our social media permissions.<\/p>\n<p>At the time of enrolment and completing consent forms, the <strong>social media consent question was not included<\/strong><strong>.<\/strong> We now ask that you please complete the <strong>Social Media Consent Form<\/strong> via <strong>ParentsPortal<\/strong> by <strong>Friday 7th November<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This ensures we have your most up-to-date permissions for sharing images and updates about school life.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Primary 7 to S1 Transfer Forms<br \/>\n<\/strong>P7 to S1 Transfer Forms have been issued out this week via Royal Mail by our admissions team.\u00a0 Can these please be returned to the Netherlee school office, completed and signed as soon as possible. Once the form has been returned to Netherlee, an acknowledge email will be issued<\/p>\n<p>Evidence required is this current year\u2019s council tax, and a utility bill dated within the last month and a mortgage statement.\u00a0 Can the utility bill clearly show name, address and the date within the last month.<\/p>\n<p>For out with Williamwood catchment applications, should you wish your child to attend a secondary school within East Renfrewshire Council, you are required to submit a placing request. \u00a0An application can be submitted online using the following link:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk\/placing-requests\">https:\/\/www.eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk\/placing-requests<\/a> however we would encourage you to also submit an application to your local authority catchment school.<\/p>\n<p>A placing request for August 2026 should be submitted between 1 December 2025 and 31 January 2026. Applications received after 31 January 2026 will be treated as late applications.
