We look forward to this opportunity to share progress of learning and working together towards next steps for your child.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Children In Need: Friday 14<sup>th<\/sup> November<\/strong><br \/>\nWe are delighted to share details about our upcoming Children in Need Charity Event, taking place on Friday, 14th November. The week commencing 10<sup>th<\/sup> November will be filled with fun activities, and we are very excited for our activities and can\u2019t wait to see everyone join in the fun while helping to make a difference! More details about our plans can be found in the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/public\/sandnc\/uploads\/sites\/18531\/2025\/11\/07125136\/Children-in-Need.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">attached document<\/a>.\u00a0 Thank you for your continued support and generosity.<\/p>\n<p>Donations can be paid <strong>in cash <\/strong>at the school and nursery gates on the 14th November, from 8.50am and again from 3.10pm. Donations can also be made through <strong>ParentPay<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fun at the Fayre<br \/>\n<\/strong>We\u2019re getting ready for our <strong>Winter Fayre on Thursday 20th November<\/strong> and would love your support! We\u2019re kindly asking for <strong>donations of home baking<\/strong> to sell at the event \u2014 please ensure all goodies are <strong>nut-free<\/strong> and that any <strong>allergens are clearly labelled<\/strong>. Please let us know as soon as possible if you will be able to donate any home baking the day before or on the day of the Fayre. The children and staff will also be busy in the kitchen, <strong>baking and cooking up tasty savoury treats<\/strong> as well as creating some beautiful <strong>festive artwork<\/strong> to sell. All funds raised will go towards supporting nursery resources and activities \u2014 thank you for your generosity and help in making our Winter Fayre a success!<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Great Outdoors<br \/>\n<\/strong>Outdoor play offers so many wonderful benefits for our nursery children! Spending time outside helps to build <strong>physical strength, coordination, and confidence<\/strong>, while also encouraging <strong>curiosity and imagination<\/strong> as children explore the natural world around them. Fresh air and open spaces provide opportunities for <strong>social interaction, problem-solving, and teamwork<\/strong>, as well as supporting overall wellbeing and a sense of calm. Whether it\u2019s climbing, digging, or simply discovering something new, outdoor play is an important and joyful part of every child\u2019s learning and development.<\/p>\n<p>As the weather turns wetter and muddier, we\u2019d like to remind families to please ensure that your child\u2019s bag has a <strong>complete change of clothes<\/strong>, including socks and underwear, so they\u2019re comfortable after outdoor play or any little accidents. We\u2019re also looking for donations of <strong>preloved leggings or jogging bottoms<\/strong> in all sizes to keep in nursery for spare changes. Any contributions would be greatly appreciated and will help keep all our children warm, dry, and happy throughout the day!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hedgehog Highway Heroes<br \/>\n<\/strong>The P7 Eco &amp; Sustainability Group have been busy helping in nursery to create a <strong>Hedgehog Highway<\/strong> in our outdoor area. By making small gaps in fences and adding safe spaces for hedgehogs to explore, the children are helping these little creatures move freely between gardens in search of food and shelter. This exciting project has sparked lots of wonderful conversations in the nursery about <strong>conservation, animal habitats, and hibernation<\/strong>, encouraging our young learners to think about how we can all help protect wildlife in our local environment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Family Learning Drop ins (<em>Health and Well Being Focus<\/em>)<\/strong> &#8211; Wednesday 19<sup>th<\/sup> November 3.00-4.00 or Thursday 20<sup>th<\/sup> November 4.00-5.00<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019d like to invite families to a <strong>drop-in session<\/strong> to chat about how we support children\u2019s <strong>Health and Wellbeing<\/strong> in nursery. This is a great opportunity to learn more about how we help children make <strong>positive behaviour choices<\/strong>, build friendships, and develop important skills like empathy and self-regulation. Staff will be on hand to share ideas, answer questions, and offer practical tips for supporting wellbeing and positive behaviour at home and in nursery. We look forward to seeing you there!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dates for your diary:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Winter Fayre 6.30-8.00 Thursday 20<sup>th<\/sup> November in the school building<br \/>\nBook Week Scotland 17<sup>th<\/sup> to 23<sup>rd<\/sup> November- ask your child about exciting learning experiences, new stories and songs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Parent Council Meeting: 12<sup>th<\/sup> November<br \/>\n<\/strong>The next meeting of the school and nursery Parent Council will be at 7pm on Wednesday 12<sup>th<\/sup> November.\u00a0 This will be in the Hub in the school.\u00a0 We hope to see as many parents and carers as possible and as ever will hear from the school leadership team on a number of issues, with the opportunity for free and open discussion.\u00a0 If there is anything you would particularly like us to raise at the meeting then please email <a href=\"mailto:netherleeparentcouncil@gmail.com\">netherleeparentcouncil@gmail.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Voluntary Contributions to Nursery Fund<br \/>\n<\/strong>Voluntary contributions to our nursery fund play a valuable role in enriching the experiences we can offer the children. While core activities are always provided, these contributions help us go further\u2014supporting special resources, workshops, outings, and creative projects that spark curiosity and make learning even more exciting. Every contribution, no matter the size, directly benefits the children by providing opportunities that enhance their development and enjoyment at nursery. We appreciate your involvement and engagement with all aspects of nursery life and look forward to working with you again this year. Contributions can be made via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.parentpay.com\/\">ParentPay<\/a>.\u00a0 Thank you so much to those families who have already donated.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Achievements<br \/>\n<\/strong>We love celebrating the children\u2019s achievements both in nursery and at home, and we\u2019d be delighted if you could share special moments from outside of nursery too. Whether it\u2019s learning a new skill, showing kindness, or simply making you proud, these experiences help us to build a fuller picture of your child\u2019s development.
