Another year of learning and fun!

Last week the P7s had their Christmas party. During the party p7 played games such as pass the parcel , the mannequin challenge and much more. There was some prizes and we all had lots of fun! Other primaries in our school also had a Christmas party. All primaries got to wear what ever they wanted on the day of their party. Everyone really enjoyed themselves and would love to do it again next year.

On Thursday 8^th December Primary 5-7 went to the pantomime at Eastwood Theatre.  This year we went to go see Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood. This year we truly enjoyed the panto as they incorporated modern elements into the play via their songs and dancing. Daniel said “I enjoyed the pantomime. My favourite part was when Beanie and Tinnie came and started to soak us with water; it was hilarious!” Joshua said, “It was great fun and I enjoyed Beanie and Tinnie!” Millie said “I really liked how they put two stories together!”  Finally Clara said “It was a great panto to watch!” Overall the pantomime was a great success!

Bloggers – Iraaj Younis and Jessica Ricci

Primary seven recently took part in some World War two workshops. We learnt how to plant our own vegetables, bake carrot cookies and sow our own decorations. Iraaj said “I really enjoyed the skills workshops! Make do and mend was my favourite because I’d never sown before. I learnt how to do a running stitch and a blanket stitch.” Emma said ” I was suprised how the cookies turned out  because I did not expect the cookies to be that nice.” Johnnie said “I liked it because I learnt how to plant an onion and broad beans this will help my knowledge in growing vegtables.”

Over all it was a really enjoyable expierence that was very useful for the future!

On Monday the 18th of September the P7s performed the new Netherlee Primary School song in front of the whole school. We came up with the lyrics, with help from our music teacher Mr Watson.It was a big hit with the upper and lower school. Every P7 had a chance to play an instrument or sing which was great! We all loved the chance of getting to perform in front of an actual audience. As some of us have never done so before. We were proud to showcase our new song and we were delighted at the positive response. We incorporated all the school values into our song. Mrs Scott was very proud!

A big thank you to our music teacher Mr Watson for his help in creating this song!

Hello this is Primary 7’s school blog. Welcome to everyone that is new to Netherlee  and new to our blog.

We hope to inform you on anything new and enjoyable that may happen in our class room. This is our last year at Netherlee  and we hope to make it the best and you can come and join us on our ride.

Last Saturday Nuala Clark (Primary 6c) took part in a gymnastics competition. She won two gold medals in Grade 5!  Nuala performed two different routines which included acrobatics. Nuala shared her medals with the class and said:

“I was very happy when I won! I was quite surprised to win but I am really pleased because I’ve been training really hard.”

On Friday 6th May we had an Open Morning where parents came in to see our learning. They also helped us do our collages of a European landmark. We all had a lot of fun and enjoyed using different materials to make these collages. Here are some quotes from our class mates:

On Wednesday, we were looking at the digestive system in science. First of all we watched a couple of videos telling us all about the small and the large intestines. Once we had watched both of the videos we moved on to a very fun experiment! It involved getting very messy hands! We had to follow step by step instructions to succeed. 

First, you had to put some crackers and a banana in a bag and squeeze  them. Then you added orange juice and water. Once that was  done you had to pour the mixture into 1/2 a tight. All of the liquid (the food that could be digested) dripped out of the tights and into a metal tray. Everything that couldn’t be digested stayed in. Next you had to squeeze all of the remaining food that had not been digested into a paper cup that had a hole in the bottom. You pressed another plastic cup on top of the food and it will come out of the hole. This represented the food leaving the body.

Last Friday, I attended the John Byrne competition ceremony which I was a runner-up for. In class, we learned about different portrait styles by artists like Pablo Picasso, Leonardo DaVinci and Andy Warhol. I chose to make mine realistic. Me and 29 other runners-up were selected as well as 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rd. John Byrne was there when the certificates and prizes were given to us. It was really cool to see my picture up in a gallery! I was proud of myself as the 30 runners-up were picked out of about 4000 entries! I didn’t think I would get chosen, so it was a great surprise when I did. I really enjoyed the experience, it was fun drawing my entry and I’m really happy that I was picked.
