On Wednesday 23rd March, a Water and Sanitation engineer came to visit P6. At the start, Mr Deverill introduced himself to us. After that he told us that he worked in some of the poorest parts of the world like Africa and Madagascar. He also told us that lots girls and some boys don’t get to go to school because they need to get water for their family. The laughs came in when he told us he worked with poo! After that we did a few activities where we were learning about personal hygiene. He taught us about how diseases can be spread and we were asked to remember the 5 F’s: Food, Fingers, Feet, Fields and Flies. We had so much fun listening and talking to him!
Mr Deverill’s visit gave us inspiration for our SESLA Awards. This week we have been designing our own designs and writing a persuasive letter to final year Engineering students at the University of Strathclyde. We hope some of us will be successful with our inventions!
