Famous Victorians

On Friday, we all did our Victorian research presentations. Some people did it on Alexandra Graham Bell, Florence Nightingale and I did it on Jumbo, the famous Victorian  elephant. After we all did our talks we played Top Trumps and we  found out the names of a lot of famous Victorians that we didn’t know existed.    – Ruby

Poppy Scotland Representative Presentation

Stephen Shires, a representative from Poppy Scotland, visited our school to talk to us about the impact that our money would have on the lives of ex-servicemen and women.

He revised the history of Poppy Scotland as a charity and told us some very interesting facts about the poppy!

Stephen was very knowledgeable and was keen to answer all of our questions.

Blair, Adam, Aimee, Rebecca and Euan presented their poppy poems to Stephen, who was very impressed by how moving they were.

Poppy Scotland Fundraiser

This year, Primary Six are raising money for Poppy Scotland and as always we were volunteering to sell the poppy around the school. However, in addition to the poppy sales we decided to raise more money by making our own Remembrance Day loom bands.

The bands were black and red to represent the colours of the poppy. Some bands had a simple fishtail pattern and others had an added poppy charms that some of our talented pupils made using their own looms.

Here are some photos of Primary Six working hard together to make as many bands as they can to raise awareness and money for a good cause! – Miss Hamilton
