World Book Day

Today we dressed up for world book day and we had lots of fun. At assembly this morning all the classes got to stand up and show the rest of the school our costumes.

The pupil council ran a best dressed competition and each class had two winners. Our winners were Kay  as Matilda and Mitchell as Dr. Who.

Here are some pictures of our FANTASTIC costumes!

The Boy Who Cried Wolf

We went to Eastwood theatre yesterday on a school trip to see ‘The Boy Who Cried Wolf’.  The bus picked us up at school and we went together with P3a, our teachers and some parents.

When we got there we waited in small art gallery until the performers were ready.

When the performers were ready  we went to find our seats in the theatre. Before they began the story they started with a song. There was a lady at the side of the stage playing lots of strange and unusual looking musical instruments. Sometimes she also used her voice to sing!

When the story started we found out the characters were called Jamie and Sam, BUT there was also a WOLF! The boys knew each other from school but they didn’t really like each other because Sam kept throwing paper at Jamie.

After school when Jamie was walking home he went through the forest past the winding tree then to the sinking swap and finally over a deep pit. Jamie had an idea to find some object to cover the pit so Sam would fall inside. The first thing he found was an old, smelly mattress, then some twigs, leaves and grass. Once he found enough he covered the pit to make Sam fall in.

Jamie went home and tucked himself in bed. The next morning he said to his Dad that he was bored without anyone to play with. So he decided to pack his rucksack and go to the meadow.

When he arrived he decided to pretend there was a wolf, he shouted WOLF, WOLF, WOLF. All the people from the town came running and there was no wolf. He did it again WOLF, WOLF, WOLF and still not a sign of any wolf. The people from the town were FURIOUS at his lies, especially his Father.

Jamie met Sam and they decided to walk home when SUDDENLY a real wolf jumped out of the bushes. Sam and Jamie ran round the tree, hid at the swap and leaped over the pit. The wolf managed to follow them but fell into the pit. HOORAY!

However when Jamie’s Dad came home he didn’t believe their story because he had lied before. The play taught us never to tell fibs, no matter how big or small!

At the end of the show we all got a chance to go on stage and join the actors in a poem. We had a FABULOUS time and would love to go to the theatre again!

Here are some pictures of  us sharing what we learned at the play today in class. 🙂
