What a fabulous first week back! We have been so busy in our new classroom and outdoor space – IT’S AMAZING! We have been building houses and car race tracks, painting beautiful pictures, playing in the water tray, investigating loose parts outside, cooked a 3 course meal in our Fairtrade Cafe/house… the list goes on. The boys and girls said they love our new classroom and outdoor space and I absolutely agree, it’s just brilliant!
The Grinch Comes to Busby
Oh my gosh, it has been an exciting day at Busby Primary! The Grinch came to visit our school and made a complete and utter mess of the whole school! The children were super excited that the Grinch came to visit and could not believe their eyes this morning. Poor Sparkle the Elf even got stuck on the board…
Story Time
The boys and girls in P1a have been very busy creating books this week at the Creative Zone! They used their sounds to write sentences and used their fabulous skills to illustrate pictures to support their story…
Shape
This week we have been learning about 2D shape and 3D objects. We were learning about their properties, we went on a shape hunt and used 2D shapes to create pictures!
A knock at the door…
This afternoon P1 had a very special visitor! Santa sent an elf from the North Pole to come and stay with P1 until Christmas. He is going to be watching for acts of kindness happening in P1! We had to give him a name. Everyone, meet Sparkle…
It’s Beginning to look a lot like Christmas…
This afternoon we decided to add a little sparkle and light in the classroom. The boys and girls took full responsibility of the decorations and decorated the tree all by themselves – great teamwork boys and girls! Doesn’t it look beautiful?
Electricity
P1 have been learning about electricity this week. We learned that it is a continuous flow of energy and we used a special ball to demonstrate what happens when the flow is broken. We also looked at games that require batteries to make them work!
Subtraction Smash
We have been learning how to subtract. We used the playdough to play Subtraction Smash. The boys and girls were given a calculation e.g. 9-7 and they would have to create 9 objects (balls, sausages, pencils etc.) and then smash 7 of them to see how many were left! We had a lot of fun.
Playing Schools…
Can you hear the ocean?
P1 were fascinated with the shells in our natural basket. We have been listening to the shells and the different sounds they create, sorted the shells into groups according to size and colour and we created our own shell shop, with Julia and Emily selling shells!
