Mearns Masters – Gastronomers 👩‍🍳🍴🍅

We are enjoying spending time in our cook school kitchen every Friday.

Week 1

We learned to use the bridge hold to chop tomatoes and olives to make a cooled pasta dish.

Week 2

To celebrate Lunar New Year, we made stir fried noodles. We learned to use the claw grip to slice peppers, mushrooms and spring onions. We used the hob to fry the ingredients plus the noodles. Miss Gray and Miss Ross helped us to set the power and the temperature of the induction hob. We finished our dish with some soy sauce.

Our Scout Elf 🎄

Our scout elf, Twinkle Jinglefluff, arrived on the 1st of December. He brought us our advent calendars. We enjoyed seeing what he got up to each day. He got up to lots of mischief around our school – we found him hiding in the PE cupboard and in Frank and Peter’s office!

Twinkle Jinglefluff departed our classroom on Friday 23rd December. He left us these games and activities for wet weather and Values Playtime.

A Winter Walk ❄

As the temperature dropped, we went for a winter walk around our school grounds. We used our class iPad to take our own photographs of winter scenes that inspired us. We used these images to write poems about the new season.

Here are some of the photographs that we took plus a few that Miss Harris took of us enjoying our time outdoors. Can you spot the moon in one of our photographs?

Solo Talks 🗣

We presented solo talks on a wide variety of topics including living in Dubai, the human body and looking after a pet. We tried hard to be a good audience to the speakers by listening carefully, asking thoughtful questions and offering feedback.

Mrs Gordon presented us with a whole class Literacy Award as the standard of our talks was so high!
