โšฝ๏ธ ๐Ÿ€ Spark Park Fundraiser ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐ŸŽ–

P3.10 took part in the Spark Park Fundraiser on Tuesday, playing all sorts of games organised by local high school students. From relay races to human noughts and crosses, the activities on offer were full of fundraising fun and the children had a great time at each station. Many thanks to the students who organised the games and well done to P3.10 for taking part with such enthusiasm!

โฐ ๐Ÿ•ฐ Telling the Time and Identifying Fractions with Active Maths ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ…๐Ÿซ‘

P3.10 have been taking part in lots of active maths lessons over the last two weeks, practicing new skills and reinforcing their learning. The children worked in pairs for our Time Challenge, racing against the clock to solve challenge cards around the room. They then took up their pair work again with our Pizza Making Challenge, preparing pizzas to order with lots of different paper toppings and revising their knowledge of fractions. It was great fun and fantastic to see the children so engaged in their learning. Well done P3.10!

๐ŸชŸ๐ŸŒˆ P3.10 Create Stained Glass Windows โ˜€๏ธ ๐Ÿ–ผ

Today in RME we discussed religious artefacts and places of worship. We looked at a variety of religious artefacts and spoke about the places of worship we had seen or visited. We then made stained glass windows for our classroom using tissue paper and glue, carefully tearing the paper into pieces and applying small amounts of glue to create our windows. It was a lovely afternoon full of interesting discussions, colour and imagination! Well done P3.10 on your beautiful windows ๐Ÿ˜Š

๐Ÿงฎ๐ŸŒฒ Outdoor Learning for Maths Week โž•โž–

We took our numeracy outside today in P3.10 to celebrate Maths Week. Using dice and chalk, we used our column addition and subtraction skills to create problems for other children to solve.

Well done to everyone for working so well with their learning partners and creating lots of interesting number problems for our playground!

Progress with Play Space Designs

P3.10 had an interesting morning considering how their model play spaces (designed during our Mearns Masters sessions) might be enhanced. We looked at architecture and famous buildings around the world before turning our attention to our own model boards.

Our focus this week was on tabs and folds as we learnt how to construct 3D walls from paper. We worked on our skills of accurate cutting, careful folding and mural design to ensure that our walls would be both sturdy and interesting to look at. Everyone got stuck in straight away and produced some excellent mazes to add to our model play spaces. Well done P3.10!

Mearns Masters Begins

P3.10 had a busy Friday morning beginning their first Masters Masters pathway of the year – Designers! Having sketched designs of our dream playgrounds last week, we moved on to discussing materials and construction for these play spaces.

We learnt that triangles add strength to a structure and spotted them in bridges. We then constructed our own triangular building blocks using paper and special cardboard folding tools. The children were careful to make sure that the sides of their triangles were all the same length. They then used their blocks to construct a piece of play equipment for our playground models. Well done P3.10!
