Primary 2.6 worked hard on different concepts today in maths including ordering numbers and seasons and months. Thank you to one pupil who also brought in a plastic pollution book from the local library to show us, we all had a great time looking through and learning some new facts about plastic pollution!
Well done to all the boys and girls of Primary 2.6 who did an excellent job of organising and taking part in their very own pumpkin hunt! The children loved helping the other Primary 2 pupils to complete the pumpkin hunt and had great fun making skeletons, creating pumpkin art and pumpkin bowling!
We had a great afternoon hollowing and carving a pumpkin from our patch in our classroom! The children had a great time using their senses to discover the feeling of the inside of a pumpkin and used their hands to hollow it out. We looked at the seeds and will be keeping these to use for art in the future!
We have been talking about why we would need mental maths skills in our lives and discussing how important mental maths is as we use it everyday. We used our mental maths skills to work out equations on our whiteboards.
We have also been using our senses to explore and discover things we find in autumn such as pumpkins, leaves and pine cones. Our tuff tray also includes lots of words relating to autumn to help us talk and write about autumn.
We had great fun today learning about Autumn and opening our classroom pumpkin patch. The children even linked this with other seasons making a pumpkin snowman! We talked about Turnips being hollowed and carved for lanterns many years ago and how we now use pumpkins as the Halloween tradition. Well done Primary 2.6!
We worked on place value problems today in P2. We enjoyed working with the place value cubes together.
