Marching into March πŸ’›2026

Hello and welcome to our March blog, πŸ‘‹

What a very busy month our children have had. We took part in the Cross Arthurlie Winter Olympics (there are some future GB athletes in the making), celebrated World Book Day and we had the chance to take part in Mini Kickers πŸ“šβš½οΈ.

Winter Olympics

The children took an interest in the Winter Olympics so we decided to have our own Winter Olympics called ‘Cross Arthurlie Winter Olympics 2026’. We explored a number of sports with the most popular being ice skating ⛸️. The children worked together to design and construct their sport of choice.

During Nurture Time we have been exploring and creating patterns with cubes . Have a look to see how we have got on.

The children played number bingo and worked well together as theyΒ  identified numerals to 10, subitised and used their touch counting skills. During one game, everyone won at the same time which caused lots of excitement and everyone loudly shouted BINGO!

We played a game to explore the amounts on the dice face and tens frame.

Our awards this month go to…

See you in February for more updates on what we’ve been up to.

What another busy month we have had in the Yellow Group πŸ’›

Gingerbread Bread Man🫚

We have been really interested in the Gingerbread Man story and had lots of fun making our giant Gingerbread Man and going on a Gingerbead Man hunt. We listened to the story carefully and demonstrated our own knowledge of the story by retelling it with puppets. We worked together to sequence the story cards. The Yellow Group have loved singing the phrase ‘run run as fast as you can, you can’t catch me I’m the Gingerbread Man!’

Fine Motor Skills

The children work their fine motor skills every day without even realising it.Β  Β These fine motor skills foster the development of the small muscles in their fingers, hands and wrists which help their everyday independence skills, along with getting them ready for holding a pen and eventually writing.

Hello Yellow Group and welcome to Super September! πŸπŸ‚πŸ’›

What a busy month we have had. We have been exploring and developing our interest in woodland animals, had our first Eco Committee meeting, started our Tuesday library days and also welcomed parents/carers in for our first stay and play session.

Woodland Animals πŸ¦ŠπŸ¦‰πŸΏοΈπŸ¦”

We have enjoyed role playing with the woodland animals and we have had lots of fun making our own puppets.

We would love to build a woodland area and need your help. If you are out for a walk and see some small sticks , pine cones or leaves please collect some so we can add them our woodland area. Thank you from the yellow group.πŸ’›

Amazing August 2025πŸ’›β˜€οΈ

Hello and welcome to the yellow group blog . We hope you all have had amazing summer. β˜€οΈπŸ’›

For our returning children it didn’t take them long to settle back into the rhythm of nursery life and quickly reconnect with their friends. There was lots of exciting and important news to share…

“I saw the real Spiderman!”

“I did too!”

“I am 4”

“I went to a caravan”

It is truly amazing how much the children have grown over the holidays. They have all returned a little bit taller and full of confidence.πŸ₯°

Have a look πŸ‘€ and see what we have been up to so far…

Also a HUGE welcome to our new yellow friends and their families πŸ‘‹. We look forward to getting to know you all πŸ˜ŠπŸ’›.

Just a few key bits of nursery information…

  • Our library day for our Travelling Tales is on a Β Tuesday. The children will be invited to choose a book to take home in their blue bag for a week to enjoy at home and exchange on its return.Β  If your child isn’t in on this day they will have the opportunity to visit the library on an alternative day 😊.
  • We seem to be having a mixture of weather at the moment πŸ˜†. During the hotter days when the UV is 3+,Β  can we ask that where possible you apply sun cream before your child comes into nursery. This helps us get outside to play and explore much quicker.Β  Please also ensure we have sun cream for your child (which can be left in the nursery)Β  so we can reapply in the afternoon.Β  Many thanks in advance.
  • Please pack spare clothes in bags in case of accidents and/or wet and muddy play.
  • If your child does not already have a pair of wellies at nursery for outdoor play if possible please provide a pair.
  • Can you please make sure your child has indoor shoes to change into when they arrive at nursery (preferably no crocs).
  • A Monday is our main day for access to the gym hall, please ensure appropriate footwear is worn on this day and earrings are removed.

See you in September!
