It’s November already!

The Green Group have had a busy November. We have been exploring different festivals, had special visits from people who help us and we also welcomed a new friend into the Green Group ๐Ÿฅฐ

๐ŸŽ‡Creating firework pictures for Guy Fawkes Night ๐ŸŽ†

๐Ÿšจ We were really lucky to have a special visit from two Traffic Police Officers and our School Lollipop man. The children have been learning how to keep safe when crossing the road. ๐Ÿšจ

๐Ÿ“šย  Some of us visited the school library and our friends from p6 joined us to read some stories together. ๐Ÿ“š

๐Ÿ…Race to 10๐Ÿ…

We have been learning to play a new maths game at group time called Race to 10. The children have been playing against the ladies and are becoming really competitive. They have had so much fun as they develop their subitising and counting skills.

The Green’s welcomed a new friend to our group!

Sneak Peek

We have been working extremely hard behind the scenes in preparation for our up and coming Christmas Market โ€ฆ here’s a little sneak peek of what you can expect!

Outstanding October

We’ve had another busy month in the green group, learning lots of new skills and developing our previous knowledge with friends. From following a recipe to discussing our favourite characters in a book…

…from exploring number to creating and constructing, we’ve been very busy indeed.

During Nurture Time we have been developing our fine motor skills and the little muscles in our hands and fingers. These types of experiences help us when we’re ready to hold a pencil…writing in the sand, brushes in shaving foam and moulding with playdough.

Project Teddy Bear

Since August the children have been collaborating on a project… making their very own Green group teddy bear.

Children have all taken a role, either big or small, whatever they have been interested in doing.

Some children have decorated a patch of the teddy bears material, some have stitched these patches together, some stuffed the teddy bear and some children have even used the sewing machine to make bags and pillows for the teddy.

This has instilled a feeling of accomplishment and ownership in the children as they have thoroughly enjoyed creating and playing with all four of the groups bears.

We are now in the process of voting for our bear…

I wonder if little bear will be named

Broccoli, Evergreen or Monkey? ๐Ÿป๐Ÿงธ

Thanks for another fun filled month at Cross Arthurlie Nursery.

Super September

It’s been a very busy month in the nursery…from building new friendships and creating masterpieces…to making music and exploring the nursery’s garden. It’s been lots of fun!

At nurture time we have been exploring numeracy through games. We played snakes and ladders using a dice. We were counting the dots on each side of the dice with our eyes. This skill is called subitizing. We were also counting the dots by touching each one with our finger…this skill is called one-to- one correspondence.

We have also been learning about patterns. During nurture time we explored pattern with shapes. Mrs Sloan started a pattern and we were able to continue the pattern. We also had a go at creating our own patterns with the shapes.

Thanks for another great month of exploring together.

Love

Amazing August

It’s been so lovely to see all the children returning to nursery and telling us all the exciting things they’ve been doing over the summer holidays.ย  We’d also like to welcome all our new friends to nursery. It’s been great fun getting to know you and we are sure we will all have lots of fun learning together at Cross Arthurlie Nursery.

Here is a snap shot of our first few weeks at nursery this year…
