October!
During the month of October the children having been exploring lots of exciting learning experiences. Here is a small snippet of what has been going on at Cross Arthurlie Nursery!
Let’s Bake!
The children have been busy baking lots of yummy treats, shortbread has been a firm favourite! They have been developing their numeracy skills whilst weighing and measuring out the ingredients in the recipe. Working on their fine motor skills, developing and strengthening the muscles in their hands when mixing and rolling out the dough.
Ask your child if they can remember which 3 ingredients they used to make their shortbread.
Wormery
The children have shown a keen interest in the insects and bugs that live in our nursery garden. We created a wormery adding in soil, sand and some water to keep it moist. This is what the worms like to live in.
DIWALI … Festival of light!
The children enjoyed a lovely creative sensory experience recreating Rangoli patterns for Diwali using coloured rice and glitter.
Autumn
As the seasons have changed to autumn the children have noticed the leaves are changing colour and falling from the trees. They took part in a collaborative piece of art work outside, inspired by the changes during autumn. Using paint brushes, mashers and printing with the autumn leaves they created a beautiful piece of art work!
People Who Help Us
We have been having lots of discussions in nursery lately about ‘People who help us’ The children enjoyed a special visit from a Police Officer in the nursery. He was able to tell us all about his job and how he can help us and keep us safe. We also got to explore inside his police van, taking turns having shots in the ‘cell’ at the back.
Happy Hallowe’en!
The children enjoyed coming to nursery dressed as their favourite characters for Halloween. They enjoyed taking part in some fun Hallowe’en activities.
