Spectacular September Blog

Welcome to our Green Blog!

Here, you will find some photos and updates of what we have been getting up to each month during the children’s time in Nursery.

🎒 Settling In 🎒

Over August and September we have enjoyed welcoming our preschool children back to nursery and hearing all about what they got up to on their summer holidays.
We have also welcomed lots of new children to our nursery and these children have done an amazing job at adapting to their new routine and have begun to form relationships with new friends and staff.

🧑🏻‍🍳 Cooking 🧑🏻‍🍳

The children have been enjoying experimenting with food and practising their cutting skills. They are always so eager to have a go and willing to get involved with all the different recipes. Our nursery rhyme of the week was ‘Five current buns’ and the children enjoyed recreating the buns from the rhyme. They also enjoyed making fruit kebabs and practised using their fine motor skills whilst chopping their fruit.

Fine motor skills help the children perform important tasks such as feeding themselves, grasping objects, and writing. The ability to accomplish self-care and everyday tasks by using fine motor skills helps the  children’s self-esteem and confidence grow.

🟢 🟩 Shape 🟩 🟢

During  group time we have been practising listening each other and turn taking when telling stories. The children are learning to be respectful of each other as we are a rights respecting nursery.
We have been working hard on developing our knowledge of shape during group time through stories, 2D shape activities and card games.
Try and ask your child if they can spot any shapes around the house and test their knowledge!

😊 Stay and Play 😊

During September, we were able to have a stay and play event with the children’s families, allowing them to come in and visit our nursery and see how well the children are doing. Thank you to all the family members who managed in to visit us, the children loved showing you around all their favourite areas in nursery.

🎨 🧑🏼‍🎨 Getting Creative 🧑🏼‍🎨 🎨

The children had a great time getting creative in the art area throughout this month. Here they were having fun creating masterpieces with the colourful puffy paint.

Painting  helps the children’s creative development ans also supports mark making, it develops their language and imagination.
