P3c’s Picasso Portraits

Welcome to Primary 3c’s first blog post.  We have chosen to blog about what we have learned about Pablo Picasso.

Miss McLean read us a book called ‘Picasso’s Trousers’.  Picasso was an artist.  He was born in 1881 in Spain.  He died in 1973 when he was 92.

Picasso wanted to go to Paris to paint.  His dad told him no, but Picasso went anyway.  Picasso wanted to do lots of different things in his art.  He wanted to paint all blue pictures (his Blue period), all pink pictures (his Rose period), make things out of bike parts, paint things from the front and the side at the same time and paint pictures in 30 seconds.

Painting things from the front and side at the same time is called cubism. Picasso was the inventor of cubism.

We painted a cubist picture.  Our picture was of ourselves from the front and from the side.
