Planning Together

At Mearns nursery children, staff and families plan the learning together. We display our planning in the nursery and blog about it weekly.

Before the children returned.

Families are encouraged to share their children’s interests and learning needs and this can be done by talking to staff or posting in the comments section of the blog.

Staff gather the children’s ideas through conversations and observations and add them to the board.

This allows the staff to support and extend children’s learning while following their interests.

After the children returned!

Polite Reminders

Please put your child’s healthy snack into their lunchbox and not their clothes bag. Staff will support them in selecting it at snack time. Also, if cutlery is required for their lunch, please pop it inside the lunchbox as well.

Every child should also come to nursery with a filled water bottle. We would also be grateful if all items, including bags, lunchboxes, bottles, snack boxes, shoes and all clothing are clearly labelled.

Finally, as we make the most of the remainder of summer, can we please ask you to be Sun Smart. Applying sunscreen in the morning and ensuring your child has a hat and something to cover their skin later in the day will help protect them as they enjoy their outdoor play.

Thank you as always for your support.

Snack and Lunch Guidance

As we move to 1140 hours this session, all children will be required to bring snacks and a packed lunch. Unfortunately, due to the unprecedented times we find ourselves in at the moment, the ordering of hot lunches will not be available.

Please have a look at the information above that comes from ‘Setting the Table’ – an NHS guidance publication for food provision in early years childcare provision.
