Creating a Waterfall
Our engineers decided this morning to build a waterfall. There was much discussion about which materials to use and how to put them together.
Then they had to consider how to move and pour the water and how to collect it at the bottom. Problem solving at its finest!
Litter Picking
We all worked together today as a team to clear the litter from the nursery playground.
In the end we found lots of litter and plenty of sneaky toys that had been lying hidden.
Puddles
In moving from summer to Autumn we have welcomed the return of puddles to Mearns Nursery. The children enjoy playing in the rain and splashing in puddles.
Please remember to send in their wellies and puddle suits each day so they can make the most of their time outdoors.
Hickory Dickory Dock
The nursery rhyme of the week was Hickory Dickory Dock.
The children had a great time searching for clocks and watches throughout the playroom, made a giant clock and had the chance to make their own mini clocks.
The children have loved learning about time and would like to hunt out clocks and watches in their own homes, I wonder who will find the most?
Milling Flour
The children have been loving exploring Goldilocks and Three Bears and today had fun exploring oats and porridge.
Through experimentation with different tools we discovered that oats can be ground to make flour! The Mearns flour mill has been busy producing flour all morning.
