We learn in lots of different ways and what works for some, doesn’t work for others and this is encouraged. We make, draw, write, act out and watch.

Our runner beans have grown….. well, some of them at least. We have had a good discussion about why some have grown a little; some have grown a lot and some have not grown at all. We have looked at the stems, leaves and roots. They will be going
We were looking at the letter e today. We watched a little clip of Elmer the elephant. We then wrote the letter e all over Elmer. They were beautiful.
We were learning all about the letter “i” today. We made beautiful igloos . We also watched a clip of “Pingu” building his igloo and we looked at pictures of the George Square igloo. It sparked some great discussions.

Everyone loves Pingu.
Chris Riddell visited the school today. He is an author and an illustrator and drew lots of pictures for us. He read us his latest book, “Once Upon A Wild Wood”.
Every week, we ask the children how they would like to learn and what they want to learn. This week, we have put in the castle for role play, the blocks and foam to build with, and the ramps for looking at friction and speed. There are always lots of choices for the children to develop their play as well as having teaching time with the class teachers.
All of our children in P1 are allowed school lunches for free. Parents can find the school lunch menus at
http://www.eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk/article/8930/Primary-1-to-7-lunch-menu
All menus are subject to change. We order our lunches from our board in class and they go electronically to our lunch staff. Each child is then given a coloured band , which the children give to the lunch ladies in exchange for their lunch. The children know to put their plates, cutlery and rubbish in the bin before they go out to play.
Here is our lunch board.
Mr Tyler came in with us this afternoon and planted runner beans. We learned that they need soil, water and light. We will water them every day and watch their roots grow and then they will start to grow out of the soil. Mr Tyler will come back and see us in two weeks.
We are always busy in 1.3. There is so much to learn as we play. We also learn to talk to each other, have manners and take turns.
We Looked T the numbers 1, 2 and 3. We sorted things into groups and we made the number two using our loose parts.
